The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Queriza bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Ward throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Ward fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Queriza manages to avoid it. Queriza takes a shot right to the bread basket. Ward lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Queriza circles away quickly and effectively. Sloppy strikes from Ward. Those never looked like landing. A combination from Ward does no damage. Queriza motions for Ward to come forward. Queriza throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Queriza throws a hook to the side of Ward's head but Ward sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Ward throws a low kick but Queriza avoids it. Ward scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Ward lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hommia doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hommia manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Hommia sitting in guard, not really doing much. Hommia trying to control the position from guard on top but Henderson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hommia passes Henderson's left leg - he's now in half guard. Hommia working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Henderson wants to improve his position but Hommia is controlling well.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Henderson scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
And that's the end of the fight! Benson Henderson showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Henderson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Walter throws a leg kick which misses Mendez's front leg but catches the back leg as Mendez tries to avoid it. Walter lands a leg kick that knocks Mendez off balance momentarily. Mendez tries for a takedown but Walter sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Walter connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Mendez's hands. Walter moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Mendez crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Walter - the referee stops the clock and Mendez gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Walter. Mendez manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Walter feints and then cracks Mendez's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Mendez down. Nice straight punches there by Walter. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Walter. Mendez takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Mendez shoots in but Walter avoids the takedown attempt easily.
