The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Spongebob lands with a thumping leg kick.
Machida tries to clinch but Spongebob is having none of it. Spongebob avoids a punch combination nicely.
Spongebob lands a leg kick that knocks Machida off balance momentarily. Machida takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Machida tries to score a power double leg takedown but Spongebob sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Machida somewhat. Spongebob dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Machida. That did some damage! Machida goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Machida shoots in and drives through. Spongebob sprawls well. Spongebob scores with a leg kick.
Spongebob fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Machida has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Machida is breathing heavily. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Spongebob connects with a solid leg kick. Spongebob throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Machida.
It looks like Lyot Machida has been cut. Machida looks for a takedown but Spongebob sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lyot Machida. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kukushkin avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Pump walks into a straight right hand from Kukushkin.
It looks like Vinny Pump has been cut. Kukushkin defending well as Pump loads up on a big left hand. Kukushkin changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Kukushkin keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Pump on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Pump throws a nice looking combination but Kukushkin bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Kukushkin lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Sloppy strikes from Kukushkin. Those never looked like landing. Pump misses with the combination.

Drone is looking for a kimura but Cart is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Drone to get the leverage.

Chuck Bummer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bummer leaves Adamek with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Herman has the hooks in. Gracie is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Herman is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Gracie defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Gracie showing good submission defense here.

Herman is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Gracie is defending well though. Herman let's go of the attempt for now. Herman looking for the choke but no joy. Gracie tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Gracie bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Gracie decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Latvala throws a right and a left that both miss. Jim takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Jim has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Latvala. That kick from Latvala tenderised Jim's leg. Jim is trying to keep his angry face on. Jim sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Latvala lands with a nice body kick. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! Latvala scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Latvala is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Jim had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Latvala fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Jim on the side of the head. Drysdale looking for a takedown here - he's got it. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Drysdale looking to pass the guard. Drysdale is working hard here to advance position. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
