The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Jones.
Jones changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lanzaro tries to avoid it but Jones manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lanzaro to the ground. Lanzaro escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Freddy Lanzaro has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pepper Jones.
Lanzaro tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jones paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Lanzaro will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Jones is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lanzaro swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Lanzaro manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Jones has Lanzaro in his guard.

Lanzaro is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Jones has his foot on Lanzaro's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lanzaro works his way back into a safe position though.

That was a close round but I would say that Freddy Lanzaro will probably get the nod.

Jones has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Lanzaro's face.

Lanzaro lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Jones will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Lanzaro moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Jones lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Lanzaro down.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Lanzaro pushes Jones away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Jones gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

I would just about give that final round to Pepper Jones.
I think Jones has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
