Materla decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Rioka desperately trying to maintain half guard.

Rioka should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

and Maui makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Mas shoots in for a takedown but Maui shows good takedown defense.
Maui lands a nice leg kick that just misses Mas's sensitive parts.
Maui throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Mas stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Maui lunges at Mas with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Mas's hand.

It looks like Adonis Mas has been cut.
Maui stuns Mas with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Maui grits his teeth and throws a big right-left combo! Mas takes both shots clean on the chin and is out cold! Maui cracks him once more on his way down, as the crowd goes wild! They enjoyed that one!

Ellis gets caught napping as Shields dives in and scores a takedown. Ellis manages to retain guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Ellis has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Shields can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
