The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Knepp changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Romanov tries to avoid it but Knepp manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Romanov to the ground. Romanov escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Servata fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Patricia manages to avoid it. Servata takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Turner uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Osie. Osie fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Osie darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Osie thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Turner pushes Osie off looking to stand but Osie dives back in and keeps control.
Turner has hold of Osie's hands but Osie slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Turner is trying to stand.
Osie not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Osie winds up and cracks Turner with a swinging punch to the side of the head. 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rodrigo Mendez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Johan Svenson! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Gregory Folan and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mendez throws a body punch but Svenson moves out of range. Svenson connects with the punch. Mendez throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Mendez connects with a looping right hand.
Svenson misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Mendez.
Svenson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Svenson creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Mendez sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. You can see the frustration on Mendez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Mendez being controlled for a moment. Svenson tries to move into full mount but can't pass Mendez's legs. Svenson is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendez wants to control but Svenson postures up. Mendez manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Svenson wants to improve his position but Mendez is controlling well.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Svenson regains full guard. Nicely done. Mendez wants to control from the top but Svenson keeps moving.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. A punch combination from Mendez misses. Mendez throws a nice looking combination but Svenson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Mendez is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Svenson. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Mendez, as that shot connected.
Mendez lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Svenson circles away quickly and effectively. Mendez fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Svenson feints and as Mendez raises his hands in defense, Svenson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Svenson wants to control from the top but Mendez keeps moving.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Svenson's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Svenson trying to control the position from guard on top but Mendez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Mendez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Svenson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Svenson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mendez swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Mendez not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Mendez fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Svenson looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Mendez moves into range and connects with a jab. Mendez connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Svenson momentarily.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Mendez bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Mendez passes Svenson's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Svenson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mendez is working away from the top position though. Mendez maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Svenson could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Mendez has cracked it and Svenson is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Mendez!
