Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Blake Axe! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Keith Schafer! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Ackerman and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Schafer dodges the punch combination from Axe.
Axe throws a low kick, looking for Schafer's leg but Schafer calmly moves out of range. Axe uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Schafer. Axe tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Schafer manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Left hook, right uppercut from Axe. Axe ducks under a wild hook from Schafer. Some wild striking there from Schafer.
Schafer on the wrong end of a nice jab. Axe uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Schafer. Axe swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Schafer manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Schafer throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Axe steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Schafer. Axe throws a chopping leg kick but Schafer manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Axe tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Schafer manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. No joy there for Schafer, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Axe rushes Schafer and presses him up against the cage. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Schafer is trying to break the clinch but Axe is controlling him. Axe tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Axe obliges. Schafer breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Schafer throws a head kick that misses. Schafer looks gassed! Axe misses with a head kick.
A nice inside leg kick there by Schafer. That's going to slow Axe down. Schafer misses with an uppercut. Schafer throws a leg kick but Axe sees it coming and checks it nicely. Axe doesn't manage to clinch there - Schafer circles away.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Axe tries to clinch but Schafer is having none of it. Schafer works Axe's body with a nice hook. Axe closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Axe stalling in the clinch but Schafer improves position. Axe holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Schafer has had enough of the clinch but Axe keeps him there for the moment. Axe lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Schafer backwards. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Axe keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Schafer's efforts to push away. Axe prevents Schafer from breaking the clinch. Schafer escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Decent striking displayed by Schafer there. Axe looks to land a combination but Schafer avoids it well. Schafer slips a jab and a cross from Axe.
Axe looks for the body kick but Schafer saw that one coming. Axe tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Axe feints a jab promting Schafer to slip. Axe then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Schafer slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Axe shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Schafer dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Axe. That did some damage! Schafer misses with a low kick as Axe jumps back. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Axe throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Axe takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Axe bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Schafer's head backwards. Schafer misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Schafer checks a leg kick. Axe throws a sloppy head kick and Schafer moves out of range easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Blake Axe dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

A head kick misses from Axe. Axe is looking to chop away at Schafer's legs. Schafer attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Axe has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Axe throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Axe on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Axe walks into a jab. Axe tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Schafer manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Axe stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Schafer. Axe has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ. Schafer throws a quick inside leg kick. Axe slips a straight right by Schafer. Schafer bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. A big left from Schafer misses. Axe misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Keith Schafer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A chopping leg kick lands by Schafer. Schafer throws a right and a left that Axe avoids nicely. Axe motions for Schafer to come forward. Axe throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Schafer turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Axe darts in and clinches Schafer up against the cage.

Axe is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Schafer is keeping busy. A frustrated look appears on Schafer's face as he tries to break the clinch. A body shot lands from Schafer.
Schafer breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Axe throws a push kick but Schafer slaps the foot to one side. Schafer scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Schafer throws a quick inside leg kick. Axe throws a series of punches but Schafer avoids them all with ease. Axe moves into the clinch successfully.

Axe scores with a sloppy right hand. Schafer should have avoided that one. Schafer connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Axe momentarily.
Axe clobbers Schafer with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Axe takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Schafer lands with a cross. Schafer swats away the attempt to clinch by Axe. Axe throws the left hand but Schafer avoids the punch easily. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Axe!

Axe throws a leg kick and Schafer counters with a good low kick that Axe was not able to check. Axe looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Axe throws a right and a left that both miss. Axe moves in looking to clinch but Schafer pushes him off. Axe blocks a head kick by Schafer.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Schafer connects with a body shot that sends Axe's belly button to the back. Schafer keeps the fight on the outside. Schafer has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Axe forces Schafer back against the cage and clinches. Schafer wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Schafer misses with a hook from the clinch. Axe is working Schafer over against the cage. Axe trying to land knees to the body.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bear closes this distance looking for a takedown but Silva circles away. Bear is trying hard to land a takedown here. Silva sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Bear fails with a takedown attempt. David Silva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Max Bear. Bear fails with a takedown attempt. Bear throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Silva's waist but Silva gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bear off to one side. Silva misses the shot to the body. Silva lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Silva is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Bear gets a double leg takedown into Silva's guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Silva seems keen to control Bear's posture.
That's one minute gone in the round. Silva bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bear's guard. Silva sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Bear's guard. Silva wants to free his trapped foot but Bear is holding on for dear life with his legs. Bear wants to control but Silva is keeping busy.
Bear slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Silva being controlled here momentarily. Silva trying to control the position from guard on top but Bear is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Silva stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bear swivels though and keeps the full guard. Bear has his foot on Silva's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Silva works his way back into a safe position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Silva postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Silva postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Silva advances position into side control! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Bear is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Silva off and has taken his back! A lull in the action here.
Bear is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Silva is defending well though. Bear let's go of the attempt for now. Bear tries to get the hooks in deep but Silva pushed the leg off.

Silva trying to control the position from guard on top but Bear is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Bear working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Silva. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Silva pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bear is keeping the position for now. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Silva's corner. There ya go! There ya go! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that David Silva will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Silva throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Bear. Bear walks into a left hand. Bear shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Silva sprawls well. Silva wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Bear gets slowly back to his feet. Max Bear seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Silva lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Bear has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Bear and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Bear tries to clinch up but Silva circles away and keeps his distance. Bear shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Silva as he avoids it easily. Silva has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Silva misses the shot to the body. Bear misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. David Silva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Max Bear. Bear changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Silva tries to avoid it but Bear manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Silva to the ground. Silva escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Silva counters with a three punch combo that has Bear backing up. Bear nods at Silva to acknowledge the strikes. Nice defenses there by Silva. Silva throws a looping overhand right but Bear ducks down to avoid it. Silva displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Bear. Bear throws a sloppy head kick and Silva counters with a left and a right that stings Bear. Silva ducks under a wild hook from Bear. Silva feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Silva lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Silva thows a big elbow that misses. Silva stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bear swivels though and keeps the full guard. Silva trying to control the position from guard on top but Bear is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bear is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Silva throwing strikes from guard but Bear blocks nicely. Bear has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Silva should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Bear has tightened it up now! Silva should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Diagana comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Judas Priest - Painkiller kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Szczevnikov is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Evans is just riding it out for now. Szczevnikov eventually gives up the hold. Shaw walks into a jab. Owens throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Owens stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Owens wants it to stay on the feet. Shaw shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Owens pinned against the cage. Owens gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Shaw on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Owens!
Shaw shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Owens sprawls well. Owens wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Shaw gets slowly back to his feet. Dupree Owens has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Larry Shaw.

Bloggs shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bloggs trying to control from half guard but Mrs is working away. Mrs is positioning himself well to prevent Bloggs advancing to mount. Mrs is staying active underneath Bloggs, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Mrs milks the crowd's applause and if that isn't knockout of the night, I will be very surprised!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McNamara feints and as Botwin raises his hands in defense, McNamara changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. McNamara trying to control but Botwin is working from the bottom. McNamara postures up and lands a big shot to Botwin's brow. Botwin looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
