The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ruatti wants to clinch up but Wanggai keeps it at a distance. Ruatti moves into the clinch successfully.
Ruatti is looking to break free of the clinch but Wanggai has double underhooks. Wanggai goes for a takedown attempt but Ruatti pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Wanggai shoots for a takedown but Ruatti saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Ruatti throws a sloppy head kick and Wanggai moves out of range easily. Ruatti misses with the combination.
Wanggai gets tackled into the cage by Ruatti. Ruatti maintains the clinch. Wanggai is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Ruatti pulls him back up using the underhooks. Murilo Ruatti has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kiyai Wanggai. Ruatti tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Ruatti just leaning against Wanggai, taking a breather. Ruatti looking to throw knees to the head but Wanggai is blocking nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wanggai changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Ruatti fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Ruatti clinches up against the cage. Wanggai has Ruatti pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Ruatti manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Ruatti breaks from the clinch.
Ruatti wants to clinch. Ruatti rushes Wanggai and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Ruatti breaks the clinch.
Ruatti goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
It looks like Kiyai Wanggai has been cut.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ruatti has Wanggai up against the cage in a clinch.
Ruatti breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Murilo Ruatti seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ruatti misses with a wild combination.
Ruatti throws a sloppy head kick and Wanggai moves out of range easily. Wanggai showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Ruatti.
Ruatti tries to close the distance and clinch up but Wanggai swats him away and circles back towards the center. Ruatti tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Wanggai counters with a nice double leg into guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Wanggai won't allow Ruatti to get back to his feet. Wanggai thows a big elbow that misses. Wanggai postures up in Ruatti's guard and throws a big left but Ruatti blocks it. Wanggai throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ruatti works some decent striking defense from the bottom. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Wanggai accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Ruatti is breathing heavily. Wanggai won't allow Ruatti to get back to his feet. Wanggai loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Wanggai is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Wanggai postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Ruatti is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Wanggai, into his guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wanggai is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Ruatti has his hands clasped together but Wanggai extends an breaks Ruatti's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Wanggai.

Silva tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Silva gets in close and instigates a clinch. Soprano tries to circle away but Silva has him pinned against the cage. Silva leaning against his opponent.
Silva has picked Soprano up - he's going for a ride! Silva dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Silva not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Silva drops an elbow to the side of Soprano's head. Silva missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Silva throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Soprano taking a bit of punishment here - Silva scoring with strikes. Jarbas Silva dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rodrigues missing with a left hand there. Silver was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Silver. Rodrigues works Silver's body with a nice hook. Anderson Silver seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Silver shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Silver is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Silver tries to clinch up but Rodrigues circles away and keeps his distance. Silver shoots in but no luck this time. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anderson Silver. That's going to take a lot out of him. Silver misses with a takedown attempt - Rodrigues sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Rodrigues connects with a right hand. Silver shakes it off.
It looks like Anderson Silver has been cut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Rodrigues bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Silver! He dives into his guard looking to finish!
Silver is rocked! The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Rodrigues sitting in guard here, content to control. Oh Silver is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Rodrigues advances position into side control! Silver seems to have got his legs back now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rodrigues decides to stand back up. Rodrigues steps back and let's Silver get back to his feet. Rodrigues fails to land with a series of punches.
A big right from Rodrigues misses. A lazy left from Rodrigues finds it's target. Rodrigues changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Silver is breathing heavily. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Rodrigues punishes Silver's body with a nice straight punch. Rodrigues lands a nice looking body shot.
Silver staying out of range there. Silver gets tagged by a hook that puts him to sleep! Rodrigues points and yells something to his unconcious foe before strutting off. Silver wakes up just in time to hear Rodrigues thank his coaches in the post fight interview.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fucker cracks Federo with a good jab. Federo takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

and Fucker counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Fucker takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Fucker throws a nice outside leg kick. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Federo tries to clinch and Fucker makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Federo misses with a right hand and Fucker counters with a series of strikes. Federo will be more careful next time no doubt. Fucker connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Juan Federo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Fucker fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Federo has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Federo moves forwards but Fucker connects with a nice, crisp jab. Fucker scores with a leg kick.
Federo is breathing heavily. Federo misses with a body kick. Fucker throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Fucker avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Federo is trying hard to land a takedown here. Fucker sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Fucker keeps Federo at a distance using the push kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Federo throws a hook to the side of Fucker's head but Fucker sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Federo chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Fucker can pounce on him.
Fucker cracks Federo with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Federo looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Fucker finish him?
Fucker lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. This has been an exciting period of action! Fucker throws a head kick that misses. Fucker scores with a head kick.

and Fucker counters with a straight right hand. Federo has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Federo there as he acknowledges the shot. Federo misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Fucker cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Federo is rocked! Federo blocks a head kick by Fucker.
Fucker fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Federo has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fucker scores with a spinning back kick! Fucker is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Fucker sends Federo crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Fucker is motioning to the referee to let Federo up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet! Oh Federo is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Look low, kick high! Fucker uses the oldest trick in the book to send Federo tumbling to the canvas, in a truly brutal knockout! Fucker is absolutely delighted - when Federo wakes up, I doubt he'll be quite so happy!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shields lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Antunes hang on? Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Antunes can't escape the position.
Antunes takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Antunes is desperately trying to improve his position but Shields has a good base and remains in mount. Antunes is squirming around, avoiding Shields's attempts to control the action. Antunes throwing hammer fists to the chest of Shields. What's that going to do exactly?
That's one minute gone in the round. Shields tries to control but Antunes wriggling away. Antunes is in all sorts of trouble here.
Shields putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Shields breaks from Antunes's wrist control and lands an elbow. Antunes is wriggling around trying to escape.
Shields goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Antunes turns into him and now he's in Shields's guard.
Shields preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Antunes has gone for a leg lock! Shields slips out almost immediately though and dives into Antunes's guard. Antunes looks gassed!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Antunes wants to sweep here but Shields controlling him for the moment. Antunes wants to stand up but Shields is controlling him. Shields advances to half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Shields throwing shots but Antunes is blocking nicely. Shields trying to control from half guard but Antunes is working away. Shields is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Shields is just content to waste time from the top position. Antunes takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Shields with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Antunes is on top in guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. The two fighters exchange a few words. That was a close round but I would say that Anderson Shields will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Shields is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Antunes. Antunes lands a left and a right that send Shields crashing to the mat, dazed. Antunes thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Shields is rocked! OH! Shields has been rocked by a huge right hand and is in deep trouble! Antunes smells blood and charges in for the finish! Antunes unloads a vicious overhand right and connects to the jaw of Shields sending him face first to the canvas! Unbelievable!

Hole fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Nog on the side of the head.
It looks like Big Nog has been cut. A swing and a miss from Hole. Hole lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Hole dips down and scores with a jab to the body. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hole scores with a shot to the body.
Nog fails with the takedown enabling Hole to counter with a crisp jab. Nog closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Nog is rocked!
That has opened up Big Nog's cut even more. Hole dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Nog is still on wobbly legs! Can Hole finish him? Nog looks gassed! Nog glances at the clock... BAM! Hole nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Nog crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Nog is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!

2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Balkan Bully! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Matheus Silva and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shleifer has taken the fight to the clinch.

It looks like Balkan Bully has been cut. Shleifer misses with a knee to the head. Bully tightens his grip and picks Shleifer up, before dumping him to the ground. Shleifer manages to land in guard. Shleifer pulls Bully in close to prevent any damage. Bully drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bully jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Shleifer preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Shleifer is on top in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Bully has his foot on Shleifer's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Shleifer works his way back into a safe position though. Bully has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Shleifer not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Shleifer's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shleifer is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Shleifer tries to free his leg and advance position but Bully is retaining full guard. Bully looking for a sweep. Not yet Bully, not yet. This has been an exciting period of action! Bully has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Shleifer can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Shleifer decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Bully has clasped his hands together around Shleifer's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Bully working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Bully is trying to get an arm triangle but Shleifer is defending well. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Bully postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Shleifer manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Shleifer pushes off an throws an elbow but Bully leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. Bully is trying to trip Shleifer. He has hold of a leg but Shleifer is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Bully persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Shleifer seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Bully lands a couple of decent looking shots. Shleifer wants to sweep but no luck. Bully is fighting to break Shleifer's control of his arms but Shleifer is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Bully advances to half guard. Bully is breathing heavily. Shleifer tries to roll over but Bully keeps him under control. This has been an exciting period of action! Shleifer manages to get to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Shleifer looking to sweep here. No luck so far. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bully accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Bully being controlled here momentarily. Bully throwing strikes from guard but Shleifer blocks nicely. Shleifer has control of Bully's left arm, preventing Bully from doing any damage. Bully throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Bully drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Bully as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Shleifer screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Bully! Nice submission victory there!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mata throws a right and a left that both miss. Mata looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Mata fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Maia, pushing him back against the cage. Mata dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. Maia tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Mata is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Maia drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Mata gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Mata jumps guard and drags Maia to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Maia wants to control from the top but Mata keeps moving.

Mata throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Maia's waist but Maia gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mata off to one side. Maia clinches. Maia working hard to break the clinch. Maia tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Mata smiles and moves away.

Maia looking to control the position here, rather than advance. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Maia looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Maia thows a huge punch but Mata dodges it nicely.
Maia winds up and cracks Mata with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Maia content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Maia is trying to control. Mata wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Maia moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Mata.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Maia is working to tighten is grip on Mata's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Mata has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Maia is really squeezing tight and eventually Mata passes out! Maia breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
