The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ling lands a lovely overhand right. Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ling paws at him with a jab and circles away. Ling connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Jones swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Philip Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jones tries to clinch but Ling is having none of it. Jones misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Ling.
A punch combination from Ling misses. Ling digs a good body shot into Jones's ribs. Jab, jab by Ling - just one landing. Ling throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Jones stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Jones scores with a jab to the body. A lazy left from Jones finds it's target. Jones misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Jones is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Ling. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Jones ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ling moves away. Ling bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Jones's head backwards. Ling misses with a few strikes there.

and Ling counters with a nice uppercut. Ling works over Jones's head and body with a nice combination.
Jones is rocked! The fighters circle momentarily. Ling darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Oh Jones is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Jones walks straight into a right hand from Ling - that's dropped him! Ling jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Jones from any more punishment! Jones complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Samuel drives through with a takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Daniels controlling the position. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Daniels is on top in guard.

It looks like Cliff Dempsey has been cut. Cordoba rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Dempsey moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Dempsey checks a low kick from Cordoba. Dempsey tries to close the distance and clinch but Cordoba swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Dempsey fails with an attempt to clinch.
Cordoba shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Dempsey won't allow Cordoba to pass to mount. Dempsey is pressing down on Cordoba's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dempsey keeping full guard, as Cordoba tries to pass. Cordoba manages to get back to half guard. Dempsey tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Cordoba looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Cordoba is breathing heavily. Dempsey throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Cordoba's body to avoid the submission. Cordoba has instead reached around Dempsey's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Cordoba arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

John Thomas's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters. Budawalski takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Budawalski throws a right and a left that both miss. Thomas misses with a looping left. Thomas takes a swing at Budawalski's ribcage but misses. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Budawalski. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Budawalski ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Thomas moves away.
