6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Marcin Lewandowski! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Queen! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shigeki Sano and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lewandowski shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Queen napping and manages to drive through into side control! The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Queen is looking to regain half guard here but Lewandowski keeps moving and retains side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lewandowski wants to lay and pray for a moment but Queen keeps working. Lewandowski really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. A lull in the action here as Lewandowski stalls from top position. Queen struggling a bit here. Lewandowski content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Queen throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! John Queen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lewandowski shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Queen but Queen pushes him off and we're back to square one. Lewandowski gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Queen.

and Lewandowski counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Lewandowski ducks under a wild hook from Queen. Lewandowski has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Queen finds it's way round the side to connect with Lewandowski's head.
It looks like Marcin Lewandowski has been cut. Lewandowski moves out of range as Queen strikes. Queen displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Lewandowski. John Queen is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Lewandowski throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Queen's waist but Queen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lewandowski off to one side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marcin Lewandowski. That's going to take a lot out of him. Queen lands a really nice looking cross but Lewandowski seems unphased.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Lewandowski shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Queen defends it nicely.

Queen lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Queen with a body punch. A glancing blow. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Queen!
Lewandowski is rocked! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Queen steps in with a hook that catches Lewandowski right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Queen follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Lewandowski looks absolutely devastated.

Pearsen waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Zappa. Pearsen wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Pearsen tries to close the distance and clinch up but Zappa swats him away and circles back towards the center. Pearsen looks to land a right hand but Zappa moved out of range. Pearsen defending well as Zappa loads up on a big left hand. Mitchell Pearsen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pearsen tries to clinch but Zappa moves out of range. Zappa goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Zappa feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Pearsens jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Pearsen thows a left - swing and a miss! Pearsen connects with a body shot that sends Zappa's belly button to the back. Zappa dodges the punch combination from Pearsen.

Zappa works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Zappa lets loose with a powerful body kick. Pearsen will feel that in the morning. Zappa uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Pearsen. Pearsen misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Zappa.

Pearsen lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Zappa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pearsen swivels though and keeps the full guard. Zappa missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Pearsen working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Zappa.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Zappa working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Zappa throwing strikes from guard but Pearsen blocks nicely. Zappa stops Pearsen from standing up. Pearsen avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Zappa pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Pearsen back to the cage. Zappa follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Pearsen cracks a nice hook into Zappa's ribs. Donk. Zappa catches Pearsen right on the button with a cross. Pearsen takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Pearsen moves out of range of the body kick. Pearsen slips a jab from Zappa. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Zappa tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Zappa dodges the punch combination from Pearsen.

A close second round but Junior Zappa will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Zappa wants to take a breather but Pearsen is having none of it. Pearsen blocking the ground and pound attempt from Zappa. Pearsen makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Pearsen. Zappa has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Zappa won't allow Pearsen to sweep him here. Zappa trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Ondoy bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Ondoy misses with an uppercut. Aoki takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Vargtass throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Vargtass moves out of range of the body kick from Ness.
Ness takes a swing at Vargtass's ribcage but misses. Vargtass tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Vargtass throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Ness's head.
It looks like Elliot Ness has been cut. Vargtass keeps the fight on the outside. Ness has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Vargtass. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ness checks the leg kick. Some bone on bone action there as Ness checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Ness will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Emanuel feints a jab promting Cartman to slip. Emanuel then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Cartman slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Emanuel leaves Cartman with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. A head kick misses from Cartman. Emanuel tries to land a front kick but Cartman steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Emanuel connects with a single shot there. Emanuel ducks under a wild hook from Cartman. Cartman swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Cartman lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Emanuel has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Emanuel and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Cartman doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Cartman misses with a combination
and Emanuel counters with a stiff right hand. Cartman chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Emanuel can pounce on him.
Cartman takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
That's one minute gone in the round. A head kick misses from Cartman. Emanuel throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Cartman stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Cartman dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Emanuel. That did some damage! Cartman throws a push kick but Emanuel slaps the foot to one side. Emanuel keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
No joy there for Cartman, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Emanuel tries to close the distance and clinch but Cartman swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. A good leg kick by Emanuel. Cartman throws a sloppy head kick and Emanuel counters with a lovely straight right hand! Emanuel throws a looping overhand right but Cartman ducks down to avoid it. Cartman connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Emanuel scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Cartman is looking to improve his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Emanuel looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Cartman is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Emanuel wants to work for an arm triangle but Cartman is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Cartman landing strikes from the bottom. Emanuel prevents Cartman from improving his position. Cartman is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Emanuel tries to pass the half guard into mount. Cartman knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Cartman wants to improve his position but Emanuel is controlling well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Emanuel missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Emanuel prevents Cartman from improving his position. Emanuel is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Emanuel stops Cartman from getting back to his feet.

You can see the frustration on Emanuel's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Cartman in side control, throwing shots but Emanuel defends. Cartman wants to control but Emanuel is keeping him busy. Emanuel is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Cartman off and has taken his back! Cartman can't escape the position.

Emanuel lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Cartman breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Emanuel lands an overhand right. Emanuel takes one on the button. Cartman throws a leg kick and Emanuel counters with a stiff right hand. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Matthew Emanuel will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!
