The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rayne with a jab.
Makushimaru shoots for a double leg takedown but Rayne sprawls well. He's pushed Makushimaru's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Rayne is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Makushimaru is looking to clinch.
Makushimaru is trying hard to land a takedown here. Rayne sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Rayne lands with a kick to the temple. Makushimaru shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Rayne will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Jj lands a right hook to the body.
Milanese looks gassed!
Jj loads up on a big right hand but Milanese slips the punch.
Jj throws the left hand but Milanese avoids the punch easily.
Jj tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Milanese was well out of range. Poor timing from Jj.
Milanese takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Jj fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Milanese sprawls well initially but Jj persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
