These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Agapito Hampaslupa! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Hugh Johnson and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hampaslupa throws a head kick but Buds moves out of range.
Buds loads up on a big right hand but Hampaslupa slips the punch. Hampaslupa lands a left and a right that sends Buds crashing to the canvas! Hampaslupa dives into mount looking to finish!

It looks like Sticky Buds has been cut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Buds's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hampaslupa looking to ground and pound but Buds is blocking nicely. Hampaslupa jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Buds manages to avoid the submission attempt. Hampaslupa decides to stand up, so the ref orders Buds to his feet. A shot to the liver by Buds. Beautiful body shot. Buds dips to his left and cracks Hampaslupa with an uppercut! Buds takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Hampaslupa throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Buds stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Hampaslupa follows into mount! Buds is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Howell looks to land a combination but Nieds avoids it well. Howell throws a leg kick but Nieds sees it coming and checks it nicely. Nieds takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
It looks like Josh Howell has been cut. Nieds missing with a left hand there. Howell was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Howell moves out of range as Nieds strikes. Howell lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Nieds circles away quickly and effectively. Howell fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Nieds manages to avoid it. Howell takes one to the chin there. Nieds tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Howell was well out of range. Poor timing from Nieds. Howell misses with a low kick.

The cut above Josh Howell's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Nieds is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. Nieds misses with a hook. Nieds fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Nieds taking a break here but Howell is having none of it and regains half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nieds controlling the pace.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nieds seems to be working for a kimura but Howell defends the submission attempt. Nieds is stalling here. Howell is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Nieds seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Howell has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Howell wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nieds keeps working. Howell is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Nieds is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Howell displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Nieds. Nieds thows a body shot but no joy.

Nieds shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Howell counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Nieds thinking. Howell throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Nieds looks to score with a jab to the body but Howell is just out of range. Howell cracks a nice hook into Nieds's ribs. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Nieds scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Howell doesn't seem bothered though. Howell lands a slapping body shot.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Nieds throws a looping overhand right but Howell ducks down to avoid it. Howell scoring well with a low kick there.

Wu Sang looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Orele! The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Wu Sang trying to control but he's not successful this time. Wu Sang lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Baran doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Baran manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Baran got a little sloppy there for a moment and Claw has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Baran has managed to get both his arms back between Claw's legs - danger averted. Baran really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Claw. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Baran trying to control but Claw is working from the bottom. Claw might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Claw keeping full guard, as Baran tries to pass.

That was a close round but I would say that Hussak Claw will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
