The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A solid leg kick lands there for Smith.

Hunter turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Hunter manages to end up in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Smith tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Hunter lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Smith down.
Hunter happy to just control the position for now.

van Frankrijk fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Kalio looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
van Frankrijk thuds a left hand into Kalio's body.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Kalio looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Kalio gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
van Frankrijk will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

van Frankrijk is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kalio defends well.
Kalio must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
