Maik Taison had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 171.2lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. The key to victory for Maik Taison has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jake Roberts hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Roberts closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Roberts throws an elbow but Mouse slips to the side and avoids it well.

Roberts swings around for an armbar but Mouse sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Roberts's guard.

Roberts has his foot on Mouse's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mouse works his way back into a safe position though.

Roberts is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mouse defends well.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mouse wants to get up but he can't break Roberts's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Roberts shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mouse sprawls well. Mouse wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Roberts gets slowly back to his feet.
Roberts stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Mouse.
Roberts tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Roberts changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mouse tries to avoid it but Roberts manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mouse to the ground. Mouse escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Mouse uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Roberts.

A short body shot lands from Mouse as the two fighters clinch.

Mouse digs a right hand underneath Roberts's ribcage. Roberts let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Mouse manages to break the clinch.

Mouse lands a head kick!
Mouse takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Mouse getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Mouse lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Mouse throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Roberts shoots in looking for a takedown but Mouse manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Roberts's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Roberts misses with a takedown attempt - Mouse sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Mouse scores with a one two! Roberts had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Mouse comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Mouse lands with a kick to the temple. Roberts shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Mouse leaves Roberts with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Roberts fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Mouse to the ground. Roberts is now in Mouse's guard.

Mouse is looking to stand up but Roberts isn't so interested in that idea.
Roberts thows a big elbow that misses.
Jake Roberts has got the better of the ground game so far.
Roberts trying to control the position from guard on top but Mouse is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Roberts thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Roberts passes Mouse's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Jake Roberts has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Roberts is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mickey Mouse showed his dominance in that final round.
