Undercard bout

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alberto Del Rio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gaiden Shinji (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Gaiden Shinji was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alberto Del Rio!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gaiden Shinji!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Trevor Gratis and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A decent looking cross lands there for Shinji.
Del Rio tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Shinji chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Shinji takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Del Rio sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Del Rio throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Shinji's waist but Shinji gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Del Rio off to one side.
Shinji with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
That kick from Shinji tenderised Del Rio's leg. Del Rio is trying to keep his angry face on.

Del Rio looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Shinji!
Shinji tries to lock up and control but Del Rio gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Del Rio goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Shinji is on top in guard.
Shinji must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Gaiden Shinji hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Del Rio shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Shinji as he avoids it easily.
Shinji stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Alberto Del Rio seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Del Rio shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Shinji pinned against the cage. Shinji gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Shinji is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Del Rio flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Del Rio is out cold! Shinji holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!

The Young Assassin lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Leoniel backs up against the cage.

Leoniel tries for a takedown but The Young Assassin sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
