1 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Techno Viking! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Viking tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Viking fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Shibukawa stuffs the takedown attempt from Viking. Viking gets slowly back to his feet. Shibukawa avoids a punch combination nicely.
Viking shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Shibukawa defends it nicely. Gouki Shibukawa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Techno Viking. Viking displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Shibukawa. Viking keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Viking tries to clinch up. Shibukawa gets in close and instigates a clinch. Shibukawa tries to break free but Viking pushes him back against the cage.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Shibukawa is defended easily by Viking. Shibukawa slips under a jab. Shibukawa tries to clinch but Viking is having none of it. Shibukawa defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Viking. Excellent takedown into side control there by Shibukawa. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Shibukawa connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Viking some visible discomfort.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Shibukawa decides to stand up, so the ref orders Viking to his feet. Shibukawa shoots in looking for a takedown. Viking tries to sprawl out of it but Shibukawa keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Viking manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Shibukawa throws a one two combo.
Viking looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Viking doesn't manage to clinch there - Shibukawa circles away.
Viking defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Shibukawa. Techno Viking seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Shibukawa tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Shibukawa shoots in and drives through. Viking sprawls well. Shibukawa shoots in looking for a takedown. Viking tries to sprawl out of it but Shibukawa keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Viking manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Viking displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Shibukawa. Viking shoots in and drives through. Shibukawa sprawls well. Viking looks gassed! Viking misses with a looping right. Shibukawa instigates a clinch. Shibukawa breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Shibukawa fails with an attempt to clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Shibukawa slowing the pace effectively. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Viking crunches a lovely knee into Shibukawa's ribcage. Shibukawa gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Shibukawa engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Shibukawa has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shibukawa fails to land the takedown. Viking tries to clinch but fails miserably and Shibukawa decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Viking's guard. Shibukawa seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Gouki Shibukawa. Viking throws a head kick that misses. Viking will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shibukawa dives in and grabs Viking's left leg, looking for a takedown. Viking pushes down on Shibukawa's head and hops out. Shibukawa tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Viking was well out of range. Poor timing from Shibukawa. Shibukawa throws a head kick that misses. Viking throws a hook but Shibukawa avoids it easily. Shibukawa misses with a double jab.
Shibukawa shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Viking pushes Shibukawa off but Shibukawa dives into side control.
Viking takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Viking really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shibukawa. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Shibukawa prevents Viking from escaping the position. Viking is breathing heavily. Viking tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shibukawa lands punches and elbows. This has been an exciting period of action! Shibukawa punches Viking on the ear. Gouki Shibukawa overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Viking trying to get back to his feet but Shibukawa is in full control for now. Can Viking hold on?! Shibukawa is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.
Shibukawa is persistently looking for the submission but Viking is defending it well.
Shibukawa has managed to slip his arm under Viking's chin. This could be all over... yep, Viking is tapping out! Submission win for Shibukawa.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carnitine decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Carnitine is working for a kimura but Santos is defending it quite comfortably.
Carnitine is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Santos has managed to free his arm - good work. Carnitine is looking for a kimura but Santos is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Carnitine to get the leverage. Santos is refusing to be controlled, as Carnitine sits in half guard. Carnitine is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Santos doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Carnitine. Carnitine is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Santos is just riding it out for now. Carnitine eventually gives up the hold.
That's one minute gone in the round. Santos moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Carnitine drops back, looking for a kneebar! Santos looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Santos looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Santos! Santos is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Carnitine knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Santos trying to control the action but Carnitine is working from the bottom. Carnitine tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Santos wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Carnitine is positioning himself to get back to half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Carnitine manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Carnitine is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Carnitine looks to land a strike but Santos avoids it nicely and regains full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Carnitine throws a strike but Santos rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Santos won't allow Carnitine to sweep him here.

Carnitine is fighting to maintain full guard but Santos has managed to sneak the leg through. Santos passes the guard and advances to mount! Santos can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Carnitine is looking to escape. Carnitine wants to hold on but Santos pushes him away. Carnitine is looking to get to half guard. Carnitine is squirming around, avoiding Santos's attempts to control the action.

Carnitine throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Carnitine not landing any meaningful shots this time. Santos trying to control but Carnitine postures up.
Santos is looking for a sweep. Carnitine is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Carnitine is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Santos is just riding it out for now. Carnitine eventually gives up the hold. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Santos's head. Carnitine tries to stand and escape but Santos actually recovers to full guard. Carnitine trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Santos bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Carnitine's guard. and Foster counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Foster fails with a takedown attempt from distance. A shot to the liver by Foster. Beautiful body shot. Taylor throws a looping overhand right but Foster ducks down to avoid it. Taylor shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Taylor wants to take a breather but Foster is having none of it. Taylor missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Taylor is thwarting Foster's attempts to control the position. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Taylor wants to take a breather but Foster is having none of it. Foster avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Taylor. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Taylor sitting and controlling from the half guard. Taylor slips a nice elbow through Foster's hands, connecting with Foster's forehead. Foster really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Taylor keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Taylor wants to take a breather but Foster is having none of it. Foster on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Taylor takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Taylor frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Taylor landing strikes from the mount.
Foster is rocked! Taylor lands a heavy elbow. Oh Foster is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Taylor drops a big elbow. That's hurt Foster! More shots from Taylor and the ref steps in! The fight is over!

Baal throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Josh Kirkland seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Baal misses with a looping right. Baal looks to land a left hand but Kirkland moved out of range nicely. Kirkland connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Kirkland moves away from the strike by Baal. Baal dodges the punch combination from Kirkland.
Baal gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Baal avoids the body shot from Kirkland.

You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Nice uppercut there from Bagwell. Nate Anderson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Anderson misses with a few strikes there.
Bagwell changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Anderson tries to avoid it but Bagwell manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Anderson to the ground. Anderson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Anderson has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Bagwell finds it's way round the side to connect with Anderson's head.
