Owens breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Silvic pivots, looking for a leg kick but Owens is out of range and Silvic settles back down. Nice defenses there by Owens. Silvic keeps the fight on the outside. Owens throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Silvic's waist but Silvic gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Owens off to one side. Silvic will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Owens jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Silvic walks away with a smile on his face. Owens tries to free his leg and advance position but Silvic is retaining full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Owens trying to control the position from guard on top but Silvic is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Roman Owens just wasn't active enough. Silvic has taken the fight to the clinch.

Owens seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Silvic takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McDowell closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Markakis is looking for a sweep. McDowell is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McDowell seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Markakis has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. McDowell is working away from the top position though. Markakis looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Markakis moves into full guard.
McDowell is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Markakis has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. McDowell is looking to defend but Markakis has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for McDowell! Markakis pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, McDowell taps out and this one is all over!

Marx takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Jones is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Marx has escaped the position, nice work there. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Jones has hold of Marx's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Marx tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Jones cranks the arm and Marx screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Marx, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
