The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sanchez tries to clinch but Mitchell is having none of it. Sanchez takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Sanchez's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Sanchez duly obliges. Mitchell swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Sanchez forces Mitchell back against the cage and clinches. Sanchez comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Sanchez lands an elbow that stopped Mitchell in his tracks for a moment. Sanchez postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Mitchell can't keep his opponent in guard - Sanchez advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Sanchez scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Mitchell on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Mitchell is trying to control but can't.
Sanchez maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Mitchell could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Sanchez has cracked it and Mitchell is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Sanchez!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Takiez tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but John swivels and escapes. John looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Takiez shoots in for a takedown but John shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Takiez tries to score a power double leg takedown but John sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Takiez somewhat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Takiez. That's going to take a lot out of him. John shoots in looking for a takedown. Takiez tries to sprawl out of it but John keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Takiez manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Takiez shoots for a takedown but John saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Takiez bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Takiez cracks John with an elbow. That is naaassty. Takiez lands a nice forearm strike. Takiez throwing strikes but John manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control! Takiez pushes John away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, John gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Takiez can't do much from the bottom here.

That was a nice finish - just the right level of brutality to send everyone home happy.

9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alpa Chino! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Alec Ball and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chino shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with McCarthy but McCarthy pushes him off and we're back to square one. McCarthy thows a body shot but no joy. Chino shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says McCarthy as he avoids it easily. McCarthy misses with an uppercut. Chino saw that one coming. Chino ducks under a wild hook from McCarthy. McCarthy connects with a body shot that sends Chino's belly button to the back. No joy there for Chino, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
McCarthy's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and McCarthy duly obliges. McCarthy smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Chino feints and as McCarthy raises his hands in defense, Chino changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. McCarthy wants to sweep but no luck.

It looks like Ryuzo Fukiko has been cut. Rai darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Rai shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Fukiko manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
