The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maxwell lands a nice hook to Armstrong's body. Armstrong takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Armstrong jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Armstrong jabs at Maxwell's body. The crowd cheers as Armstrong lands an impressive looking overhand right. Maxwell doesn't seem phased though. Maxwell will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Maxwell looks to land a left hand but Armstrong moved out of range nicely. Maxwell throws a lazy right hand but Armstrong sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Maxwell slips a jab and a cross from Armstrong.
Nice cross by Maxwell. Armstrong explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Armstrong feints and then cracks Maxwell's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Maxwell down. Maxwell ducks under a wild hook from Armstrong. Vick Armstrong seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A jab from Armstrong misses. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Donaire can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Donaire wants to get up but he can't break Quinn's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Quinn is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Donaire is aware though and is defending well. Donaire is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Donaire really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Quinn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Quinn striking off his back but it's not causing Donaire any problems. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Quinn will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Quinn wants to sweep but no luck. Quinn looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Donaire has picked Quinn up and slammed him! Quinn can't keep hold of the triangle and Donaire manages to pass to side control! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Quinn is looking to reverse the position. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Donaire working away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

No, Donaire has managed to get both his arms back between Quinn's legs - danger averted. Donaire decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Quinn tries to score a power double leg takedown but Donaire sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Quinn somewhat. Donaire checks a leg kick. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Quinn tries to close the distance and clinch but Donaire swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Decent striking displayed by Donaire there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close third round but Nonito Donaire just about did enough to take it. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Quinn shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Donaire pinned against the cage. Donaire gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Flikflak takes a swing at Thompson's ribcage but misses. Flikflak dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Flikflak stuns Thompson with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
