The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sunagakuure lands the left hand. Sunagakuure lands with an overhand left. Sunagakuure drives through and clinches with Aalto against the cage.
Sunagakuure works on Aalto's body with a couple of short punches. A body shot lands from Sunagakuure.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Sunagakuure lands with a short head shot on the inside. Sunagakuure lands with a short head shot on the inside. Sunagakuure lands with a left to the head. Sunagakuure lands with a right to the head. Sunagakuure breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Sunagakuure punishes Aalto's body with a nice straight punch. Aalto is breathing heavily. Aalto throws a combination that misses and Sunagakuure makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Sunagakuure throws a series of punches but Aalto moves out of range. Sunagakuure lands a lovely overhand right. Sunagakuure lands a slapping body shot.
Sunagakuure moves into the clinch. Sunagakuure lands with a left to the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sunagakuure working some nice short punches in the clinch. Sunagakuure lands a right hand. Sunagakuure pushes Aalto back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Aalto is rocked! Sunagakuure drops Aalto onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Aalto is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet! Oh Aalto is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Sunagakuure is working Aalto over against the cage. Sunagakuure breaks from the clinch.
Hannu Aalto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sunagakuure lands with a good body shot. Aalto seems to have got his legs back now. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sunagakuure cracks Aalto with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Aalto tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Sunagakuure pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Aalto is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Adams tries to close the distance and clinch but Van Der Veer swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Van Der Veer doesn't succeed with the takedown and Adams counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Van Der Veer wants to get back to his feet.
Adams slows the pace down in half guard. Adams is trying to work for a kimura but Van Der Veer is defending well.
Adams is looking to take a break and control but Van Der Veer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Adams sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Van Der Veer defending well though.

Van Der Veer wants to control but Adams is keeping busy and won't allow it. Adams wants to free his trapped foot but Van Der Veer is holding on for dear life with his legs. Adams wants to take a breather but Van Der Veer is having none of it. Adams looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Adams is nestled in close to Van Der Veer, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Adams scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Van Der Veer is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Adams is trying to work for a kimura but Van Der Veer is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Adams is keen to just control but Van Der Veer is a slippery customer.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Adams moves nicely into side control. Adams trying to control the action but Van Der Veer is working from the bottom. Van Der Veer struggling a bit here. Van Der Veer regains half guard. Adams is thwarting Van Der Veer's attempts to control the position. Adams is taking a breather. Van Der Veer says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Adams is working for a kimura but Van Der Veer is defending it quite comfortably.
Adams tries to pass to full mount but Van Der Veer defends it. Van Der Veer controlling the position for now. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Adams wants to advance to full mount but Van Der Veer doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Adams is looking to stand up but Van Der Veer won't let him. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Marcus Adams dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Van Der Veer keeps the fight on the outside. Van Der Veer shoots in for a takedown but Adams shows good takedown defense. Adams throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Van Der Veer lands a nice shot that snaps Adams's head back.

Adams tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Van Der Veer just stands there and leans against the cage. Van Der Veer tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Adams smiles and moves away.

That's one minute gone in the round. Adams keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Marcus Adams has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Magnus Van Der Veer. Adams fails in his attempt to clinch. Marcus Adams is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Nice takedown defense from Adams. No joy for Van Der Veer on that attempt. Van Der Veer fails with a takedown attempt. Van Der Veer tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Adams shoots in for a takedown but Van Der Veer shows good takedown defense. Adams keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Adams bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Van Der Veer is breathing heavily. Van Der Veer struggling a bit here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Adams has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Adams shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Van Der Veer manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Adams wants to control from the top but Van Der Veer keeps moving. Van Der Veer not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Adams knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Van Der Veer on the ground. Adams drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Van Der Veer manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Adams has Van Der Veer in his guard. Van Der Veer is pushing down on Adams's leg trying to pass to half guard. Adams is fighting to maintain full guard but Van Der Veer has managed to sneak the leg through. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Van Der Veer jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Adams walks away with a smile on his face. Van Der Veer gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Adams throws a body kick despite being completely out of range and Van Der Veer counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Adams's guard now. Adams is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Marcus Adams overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Van Der Veer looking to pass the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Adams keeping moving, preventing Van Der Veer from controlling successfully. Adams looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Van Der Veer passes into side control.
Van Der Veer content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Adams wants to get back to his feet.

Adams seems comfortable defending it but Van Der Veer has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Adams is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Adams is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Van Der Veer couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Fitzhugh is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Master of Puppets. Frank Palmeri had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 156.7lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Can he survive? No! He's out! Fitzhugh gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted.
