The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hulk gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Avalon counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Hulk tries to roll over but Avalon keeps him under control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hulk moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Avalon is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Avalon trying to control the position from guard on top but Hulk is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Avalon trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Avalon has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Hulk is trying to control. Avalon wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Avalon is refusing to be controlled, as Hulk sits in half guard.

Hulk is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Hulk is pressing down on Avalon's thigh, looking to free his foot. Avalon is holding on for now.
Avalon is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Hulk not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Hulk is trying to work for a kimura but Avalon is defending well.

Kame stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kame wants it to stay on the feet.

Kame slips a straight right by Ventura.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ventura is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Kame gets his way!
Ventura really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kame. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Nice uppercut lands for Quirke. That snapped Kawozinazaki's head back.

It looks like Xhun Kawozinazaki has been cut.

Quirke feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Kawozinazaki sprawling to the canvas! Kawozinazaki rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Quirke finish him?!

Kawozinazaki is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Quirke is stalking Kawozinazaki. Kawozinazaki circles to his left. Keeps circling left. Bam! Straight right from Quirke, and it's lights out! Kawozinazaki really payed the price for that rookie mistake.

Brady scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Jaa tries to close the distance and clinch but Brady swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Brady rushes Jaa and presses him up against the cage.
Brady has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Jaa throws a knee to the head but misses.
Jaa throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Brady blocks it with crossed arms.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Liam Brady dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Brady misses with a takedown attempt - Jaa sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Brady throws a head kick but Jaa moves out of range.

Liam Brady seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Brady counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
No joy there for Jaa, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Brady connects with a nice looking jab.
Brady shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jaa pinned against the cage. Jaa gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
