Alli looking to control but Kush is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Alli punching from mount but Kush doing a good job of avoiding damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kush holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Alli tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Alli forces the positional change into back control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt. Alli lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Alli.
Alli scores with strikes from the back.
Well, with Alli on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Kush is tapping out... Can he escape the position? Alli thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent. Alli has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Kush is defending well but eventually Alli manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Kush has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:02 of round 5, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Muhamad Alli! Muhamad Alli retains his light heavyweight title! During a confident post fight interview, Muhamad Alli thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
