and Masahuku counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Deupreaux manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Deupreaux cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Masahuku tries to hold on but Deupreaux pushes him away.
Deupreaux postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Masahuku looks a forlorn figure.
Deupreaux postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Masahuku in real trouble here! The ref calls for Masahuku to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jacques Deupreaux!
Jacques Deupreaux decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.

Philips drops Vaughn with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Vaughn looks back up at him and smiles so Philips waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Philips is stalking Vaughn. Vaughn circles to his left. Keeps circling left. Bam! Straight right from Philips, and it's lights out! Vaughn really payed the price for that rookie mistake.
