3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eikichi Onizuka! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Chad Campbell and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Onizuka swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Ruiz.
It looks like Manuel Ruiz has been cut. Onizuka throws a head kick that misses. Onizuka keeps the fight on the outside. A low kick from Onizuka is predictable there and Ruiz counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Ruiz stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ruiz wants it to stay on the feet. Onizuka pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Onizuka throws a front kick aimed at Ruiz's knee but Ruiz avoids it well. Onizuka shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Ruiz counters with a nice leg kick. Onizuka throws a sloppy head kick and Ruiz counters with a nice low kick that buckles Onizuka's knee momentarily. Onizuka shoots in for a takedown but Ruiz shows good takedown defense. Manuel Ruiz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eikichi Onizuka. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ruiz tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Ruiz blocks a jab. Ruiz goes for a high kick. It partially lands. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Onizuka tries to keep at a distance but Ruiz has taken the fight into the clinch.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Christopher fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Janetzky to the ground. Christopher is now in Janetzky's guard. Christopher stops Janetzky from standing up. Christopher controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Christopher postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Christopher is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Christopher stops Janetzky from standing up.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Harrison Christopher. Janetzky shoots in and gets a takedown into Christopher's guard. Christopher is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Christopher pulls Janetzky in to control the position.

He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Christopher looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Janetzky can't hide his disappointment, as Christopher celebrates the victory.

Smithers works over Maynard's head and body with a nice combination. Smithers changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Maynard tries to avoid it but Smithers manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Maynard to the ground. Maynard escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Smithers lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Smithers. Smithers dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Smithers shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Maynard eats them both and turns towards Smithers to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Smithers connects with a right hand. Maynard shakes it off. Maynard tries to clinch up. Smithers keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Smithers with a body punch. A glancing blow. Smithers throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Smithers dives in and grabs Maynard's left leg, looking for a takedown. Maynard pushes down on Smithers's head and hops out. Smithers throws a right and a left that Maynard avoids nicely. Maynard wants to clinch. Maynard looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Smithers! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Maynard takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Maynard jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Smithers manages to avoid the submission attempt. Maynard lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Smithers down.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hollinger fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Llewtras on the side of the head. Llewtras with a lazy takedown attempt and Hollinger counters with a lovely shot to the body. Llewtras doesn't succeed with the takedown and Llewtras takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Hollinger scores with a nice strike.
Llewtras is rocked! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Llewtras stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Hollinger. Oh Llewtras is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Llewtras is breathing heavily. Hollinger flashes Llewtras a smile before throwing a beast of a right hand, straight down the pipe. Llewtras's eyes follow the hand right onto his nose, taking in it's full glory... and then darkness. Llewtras crumples to the floor! He's out cold! Hollinger punches the air and yells at the top of his lungs - yeeeeeeeeeeah!!!! This one is all over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hitachi misses with a takedown and Campana makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Campana lands a nice looking kick to the body. Hitachi takes a step back to recover. Hitachi gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Campana counters with an outside leg kick.
Hitachi closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Hitachi shoots and misses and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Dean Campana has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Philco Hitachi. Campana looks to land a combination but Hitachi avoids it well. Campana closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hitachi did well to prevent Campana getting side control. This has been an exciting period of action! We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Hitachi tries to get to full guard but Campana has control of the leg. Hitachi missing with punches from the bottom.

He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Hitachi for as long as he can get away with. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Campana connects with a nice short shot to Hitachi's temple. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Hitachi tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Campana wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Campana landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Campana working the ground and pound. Campana is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hitachi knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Campana connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Hitachi some visible discomfort.
