Let's hope that Faber has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Urijah Faber hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Ingleheart tries to bum rush Faber with a series of wild strikes but Faber uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Simpson shoots for a double leg takedown but Rodriguez sprawls well. He's pushed Simpson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Rodriguez connects with a looping right hand.
Simpson moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Rodriguez looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Rodriguez rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Simpson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Rodriguez throws an overhand right that lands on Simpson's shoulder, as Simpson tries to avoid the shot.

and Simpson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Rodriguez won't be happy with that.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Rodriguez is pushing Simpson's head away, looking to escape. Simpson manages to hold on to the position though.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Simpson is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Rodriguez looks calm but he's in trouble here. Simpson gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Rodriguez is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Simpson lets go of the hold and Rodriguez can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Slamen got a little sloppy there for a moment and Van Dam has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Slamen has managed to get both his arms back between Van Dam's legs - danger averted.
