The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lei throws a poor cross that misses
and Nugzarov makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Lei throws a nice looking combination but Nugzarov bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Nugzarov lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Lei throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Nugzarov counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Lei thinking. Nugzarov uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Lei. Nugzarov misses with a few strikes there.

and Nugzarov counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Nugzarov stalling against the cage.

Lei might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Lei misses with a straight left. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Nugzarov moves away from the strike by Lei. Lei misses with a double jab.

Lei is rocked! Lei is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Nugzarov is aware though and is defending well. Lei is still in real trouble! Can Nugzarov finish him? Lei is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Lei seems to have recovered his senses. Nugzarov has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Nugzarov stands up from Lei's guard - Nugzarov perhaps looking for a knockout. Lei throws a lazy right hand but Nugzarov sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Lei swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Nugzarov throws a sloppy head kick and Lei moves out of range easily. Lei jabbing away but nothing is landing. Lei swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Lei takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Lei is trying to break the clinch but Nugzarov is controlling him. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. A frustrated look appears on Lei's face as he tries to break the clinch. Nugzarov throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Leis head. Nugzarov slowing the pace effectively.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lei has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Nugzarov keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Lei's efforts to push away. Nugzarov throws a punch but it's blocked by Lei. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Nugzarov creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Nugzarov breaks from the clinch.
Lei connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Nugzarov slips a jab and a cross from Lei.

Nugzarov's corner calls for a 1-2. Nugzarov obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Lei throws a right and a left that both miss. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Nugzarov dodges the punch combination from Lei.

Dmitry Nugzarov opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.

Rudi Loens seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A head kick misses from Loens. A punch combination from Loens misses. Iori lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Loens at a distance.
Loens shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Iori napping and manages to drive through into side control! Iori manages to work his way to half guard, despite Loens's best efforts. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Iori wants to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Iori is working hard here to advance position. Iori might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Iori is pressing down on Loens's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Iori has control of Loens's left arm, preventing Loens from doing any damage. Loens must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Loens in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Loens really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Iori. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Loens tries to stand but Iori is controlling from the bottom. Loens being controlled here momentarily.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Iori tries to clinch but Loens is having none of it. Iori throws a low kick but it's checked well by Loens. Loens goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Loens darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Loens tries to stand but can't do so whilst Iori controls his leg. Iori manages to get to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Iori has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Watanabe Iori just wasn't active enough. Iori gets a takedown into half guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Iori looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Loens throws a right and a left that both miss. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Iori shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Loens's guard. Iori slips nicely into half guard. Iori works his foot free and advances to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Iori with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Iori wants to control the pace but Loens is squirming around nicely. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Loens is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Loens tries to lock up and control but Iori gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Iori looking for a guillotine from mount but Loens is having none of it. Iori controlling the position easily from mount.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kopite has Klint up against the cage in a clinch.
Klint gets control of Kopite's arms and successfully pulls guard. Klint will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Kopite with a flurry of punches that miss. Kopite wants to control from the top but Klint keeps moving. Kopite lands a couple of digs. Kopite stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Klint swivels though and keeps the full guard. Klint managing to control the position. Kopite postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Klint is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kopite, into his guard. Kopite looking to hit a scissor sweep but Klint is one step ahead there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Klint loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Kopite is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Klint throwing strikes but missing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Klint is looking to work some ground and pound but Kopite has wrist control. Klint missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Klint content to stall in guard here.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rahman throws a body punch but Basaev moves out of range. Basaev shoots in and drives through. Rahman sprawls well. Basaev misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Basaev takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Rahman throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Rahman stuffs the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mikki Basaev. That's going to take a lot out of him. Basaev misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Rahman throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Basaev bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Rahman prevents Basaev from moving into mount. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Basaev is working hard here to advance position. Basaev advances nicely into full mount. Basaev avoids the attempt from Rahman to control. Basaev is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Rahman to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Rahman shrugs it off.
That's one minute gone in the round. Basaev is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Rahman is surviving well by controlling Basaev's body position as best he can. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chance shoots in for a double leg but Waters sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Chance throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Waters really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Waters bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Chance can't do much from the bottom here. Chance regains half guard. Chance is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Chance is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Waters thows a huge punch but Chance dodges it nicely.
