The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice uppercut lands for Fisk. That snapped Highty's head back.
It looks like Mike Highty has been cut. Highty throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Highty misses with a takedown attempt and Highty takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Highty doesn't succeed with the takedown and Fisk counters with a lead uppercut that lands right on the button! Highty goes down! Will Highty beat the count? 3,4,5 - he's up! No problem. Welsh shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ahkenaton defends it nicely. King Ahkenaton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ahkenaton throws a right and a left that Welsh avoids nicely. Ahkenaton misses with a series of wild punches.
The fight stays on the outside here - Welsh looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Ahkenaton shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Ahkenaton was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Ahkenaton in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

Welsh tries to lock up and control but Ahkenaton gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Ahkenaton lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Welsh is looking to improve his position but Ahkenaton isn't that keen on the idea. Ahkenaton with shots to the head and body - Welsh looks very uncomfortable down there. Ahkenaton has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Welsh keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
