The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Szent closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Jefferson quickly recovers to half guard. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Jefferson wants to get back to his feet. Szent controlling the action here. Szent has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Szent is looking to advance position but Jefferson won't allow it. Jefferson is trying to stand up here but Szent is controlling him well. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Szent is looking for a kimura but Jefferson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Szent to get the leverage. Szent not doing much here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Billy Szent. Szent scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Szent goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Jefferson has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Szent but great work by Jefferson. Szent tries to get back to half guard but can't. Szent can't do much from the bottom here. Szent keeping his opponent close. Szent is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Jefferson has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Jefferson throws a strike aimed at the side of Szent's head but Szent avoids it well. Jefferson tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Jefferson looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. This has been an exciting period of action! Szent parries the strikes from Jefferson easily there. Jefferson is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Szent to escape.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Szent struggling a bit here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Szent throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! Szent bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Jefferson wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Szent wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jefferson keeps working. Szent passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Jefferson! Szent sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Szent goes for an armbar but Jefferson turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Jefferson.

Jefferson trying to control the position from guard on top but Szent is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Jefferson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Szent works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Szent is trying to control the position but Jefferson postures up. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Szent looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Szent is trying to control Jefferson's posture but Jefferson avoids it. Szent is not content to let Jefferson control the position.

Szent's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Szent really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

A close second round but Lee Jefferson will probably get the nod - 10:9. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Szent is looking to take a break and control but Jefferson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Jefferson is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Szent wants to control but Jefferson is keeping him busy. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Szent is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Jefferson is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Jefferson tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Szent content just to control the position here. Szent seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jefferson for as long as he can get away with.

We're going to have a standup here because Billy Szent wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Jefferson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Szent is controlling Jefferson's posture. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Jefferson throwing strikes but missing.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Materovic moves into the clinch. Materovic is trying to pull guard but Eveans turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Materovic tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mainfeld looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Mainfeld gets caught by a brutal right hook which buckles his knees! Mainfeld tries to backpedal with his spaghettilegs but Shinomori is headhunting and goes for the kill. A jab and a right hook connect and Mainfeld buckles badly as his eyes roll back. The referee steps in and saves Mainfeld!! Mainfeld is complaining but he was clearly out on his feet. Shinomori throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Mmmm spit-tastic.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kano Shinomori! Kano Shinomori decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.

Williams tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Penueta was well out of range. Poor timing from Williams. Penueta shoots in for a takedown and gets it. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Williams blocking the ground and pound attempt from Penueta. Penueta looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Penueta wants to lay and pray for a moment but Williams keeps working. Williams makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Williams. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Williams is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Penueta stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Williams swivels though and keeps the full guard. Penueta won't allow Williams to sweep him here. Penueta has gone for a leg lock! Williams slips out almost immediately though and dives into Penueta's guard. Penueta on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Penueta tries to get out of the position. Penueta controlling the position.

Penueta fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Williams is out of range. Williams just misses with a punch to the body.

Williams paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Williams stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Penueta throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Williams throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Penueta. Williams cracks Penueta with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Penueta staying out of range there. Penueta needs to keep his hands up - Williams had a free shot at his head there. Williams looks to score with a jab to the body but Penueta is just out of range.
