The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carlson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Baby accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Baby throwing strikes but missing. Shride is working an open guard so Baby takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Baby throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Shride avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Shride lands with a left to the head. Shride lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Baby backwards. Baby looking to stall.
Derek Shride has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Baby's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Shride throws a punch but it's blocked by Baby. Baby lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Baby wants to lay and pray for a moment but Shride keeps working. Baby is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Baby is working for a kimura but Shride is defending it quite comfortably.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Excellent takedown into side control there by Kovalenko. Dyer is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Kovalenko asserts his dominance and retains side control.
