And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Billy Boondocks!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silvain throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Boondocks.

Silvain misses with an uppercut.
Silvain looks to land a body kick but Boondocks moved away.
Boondocks slips under a jab from Silvain.
Silvain lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Boondocks darts in and clinches Silvain up against the cage.

Boondocks tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Silvain escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Boondocks scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Silvain does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Boondocks fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Silvain, pushing him back against the cage.

Boondocks lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Tiago Silvain's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

Boondocks lands a right hand that snaps the head of Silvain backwards.
Silvain using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Boondocks has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Boondocks lands a shoulder strike.

Pain comes into the arena with Decisive Battle blaring out of the sound system. Meridius has chosen Sexion d'Assaut - Desole as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Meridius pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Meridius on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Pain throws a hook to the side of Meridius's head but Meridius sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Pain throws a body kick the misses
and Meridius counters with a left to the body.
Meridius motions for Pain to come forward. Meridius throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Pain fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Meridius checks it well.
Pain misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Meridius.

Pain moves into the clinch.
A short body shot lands from Pain as the two fighters clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Pain is working Meridius over against the cage.
Meridius looks gassed!
Meridius blocks a body shot from Pain.
Pain lands a shoulder strike.

Pain is trying to trip Meridius. He has hold of a leg but Meridius is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Pain persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Pain postures up in Meridius's guard and throws a big left but Meridius blocks it.

Pain slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Meridius controls Pain momentarily but Pain frees himself.
Pain is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Maximus Meridius hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Pain works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

It looks like Maximus Meridius has been cut.
Pain lands a glancing blow to the side of Meridius's head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Meridius walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Meridius throws the kick towards the body but Pain avoids it.
Maximus Meridius seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pain keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Pain displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Meridius throws out the jab.

and Pain counters with a left and a right that stings Meridius.

Pain lands a nice leg kick that just misses Meridius's sensitive parts.
Meridius tries to clinch up but Pain circles away and keeps his distance.

That kick from Pain tenderised Meridius's leg. Meridius is trying to keep his angry face on.

Meridius throws the left hand but Pain avoids the punch easily.

and Pain counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Meridius thinking.

Meridius feints a jab promting Pain to slip. Meridius then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Pain slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Pain moves into the clinch.
Pain wants to take the fight to the mat but Meridius manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Pain lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Meridius scores with a nice hook to the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Pain scores with a shot to the side of Meridius's head.

Meridius can't break the clinch.
Meridius is trying to push Pain away but Pain has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Meridius tries to work over Pain's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Pain.
Pain lands a right hand that snaps the head of Meridius backwards.
Pain softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.

Meridius is rocked!
Pain creates some distance for himselfand unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Meridius's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Meridius drops to his knees and Pain pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Starship Pain!
Starship Pain retains his super heavyweight title!
After winning the bout, Starship Pain thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
