The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Champ bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Rock's head backwards. Rock throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Nice straight punches there by Champ. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Champ. Rock closes the distance and clinches. Rock breaks the clinch.
Rock closes the distance and clinches. Rock displaying some good clinch control by pressing Champ up against the cage. Rock lands with a light punch inside. Rock manages to break the clinch.
Rock takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Rock tries to close the distance and clinch up but Champ swats him away and circles back towards the center. Rock clinches. Rock breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Rock closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Rock tries to move to mount but Champ blocks the move with his legs. Rock wants to control but Champ is keeping him busy. You can see the frustration on Champ's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. A lazy left from Champ finds it's target. Champ scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Champ thuds his right hand into Rock's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Champ lands a nice looking body shot.
Rock wants to slow Champ down by chopping away at his legs. Rock throws a series of punches but Champ moves out of range. Lance Rock is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Champ fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Rock looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Rock will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Rock takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Jab by Champ. Champ bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Rock's head backwards. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. A clash of legs there as Rock blocks the low kick. Rock takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Champ is trying to pull guard but Rock has him pressed against the cage. Champ tries to throw a body punch but Rock avoids it by throwing Champ back against the cage. A battle for position here, against the cage. Rock's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Krause drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Chankin dives on top into guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Andre Chankin will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Xavier shoots in for a takedown but Simpson shows good takedown defense. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Xavier. Aidan Xavier seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Xavier throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Masters misses with a takedown attempt - Hyypia sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Hyypia uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Masters.
Hyypia stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hyypia wants it to stay on the feet. Masters keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Hyypia leaves Masters with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Sami Hyypia has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Masters. Masters misses with a looping left. A looping hook to the body misses from Hyypia. Masters does a little dance to reset his feet. Masters shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Masters takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Hyypia tries to sprawl but Masters drives through with a takedown into half guard. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Masters in particular looking to stall.

Masters slows the pace down in half guard. Hyypia is staying active underneath Masters, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Masters slips under a jab. Hyypia uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Masters. Hyypia uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Masters. Hyypia displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Masters. Masters with a lazy takedown attempt and Hyypia counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Masters with a lazy takedown attempt and Hyypia counters with a lovely straight right hand! Chris Masters seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A punch lands to the side of Masters 's head but he takes it in his stride. Hyypia bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Masters's head.
It looks like Chris Masters has been cut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Masters motions for Hyypia to come forward. Masters throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Masters throws a sloppy head kick and Hyypia moves out of range easily. Masters throws a leg kick that misses. Masters fails with the takedown and Hyypia counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Masters throws the left hand but Hyypia avoids the punch easily. Masters tries for a takedown but Hyypia circles away easily and Hyypia makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Masters really felt that one! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Sami Hyypia will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Chris Masters's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Masters takes a shot right to the bread basket. Masters has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Masters there as he acknowledges the shot. Hyypia keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Masters. Masters shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Masters takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
That has opened up Chris Masters's cut even more. Hyypia moves away from the strike by Masters. Hyypia defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Masters. Horrible takedown by Masters or perhaps it was just good defense by Hyypia which made him look bad. Sami Hyypia has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Masters. Masters looks to land a left hand but Hyypia moved out of range nicely. Sami Hyypia is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

This one might not go much longer!

Masters leaves his chin hanging out and Hyypia seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Masters crumbles to the floor in a heap! The referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!
