The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Elder clinches up with Royal and pushes him back against the cage.
Royal misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Elder.
Elder lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.

It looks like Bandit Royal has been cut.
Elder pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Elder throws an elbow but it misses.
Royal avoids a wild elbow strike from Elder.
Elder comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Royal takes an elbow to the temple.
Royal wants to stall.
Elder takes an elbow to the temple.
Elder lands an elbow inside.

Bandit Royal's cut is getting worse.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Elder looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Royal pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Elder.

Jeez, Bandit Royal's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Bandit Royal's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Deefoantoo tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Grundy manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Lesnar throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Lesnar throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Lesnar fails with an attempt to clinch.
Lesnar tries to clinch there but Romine circles away.

Romine shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Romine was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Romine takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Romine tries to control but Lesnar wriggling away.
Lesnar wants to control but Romine is having none of it.
Romine prevents Lesnar from getting the reversal.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lesnar slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Romine is taking a breather. Lesnar says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Lesnar is looking to get back to is feet but Romine passes into side control.
Lesnar wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Romine wants to take a breather but Lesnar manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Romine.

Romine stands up and waves to Lesnar to follow him.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Romine uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Lesnar has time to react.

Romine lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Romine is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Romine stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Romine wants it to stay on the feet.

Lesnar tries to clinch but Romine moves out of range.
Romine scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Romine stuns Lesnar with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Romine manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Lesnar on his heels. He'll look to pass Lesnar's guard now, I'm sure.

Romine decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Lesnar, up you get!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Romine jabs Lesnar to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Lesnar walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Romine throws a shot to the body.

Romine closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Romine tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Romine goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Lesnar rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Romine's guard! Nice work there by Lesnar!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Lesnar with a lazy takedown attempt
and Lesnar takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Lesnar has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Romine fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Lesnar sprawls well initially but Romine persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Romine knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lesnar on the ground.

Romine works the jab nicely.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Lesnar enables Romine to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Lesnar manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Romine wants to stand but Lesnar has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Lesnar is trying to keep Romine in close.
Romine is looking to stand up but Lesnar won't let him.
Thomas Romine overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Romine fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Lesnar avoids it really well and circles away.

Romine has Lesnar pressed against the cage, preventing Lesnar from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Lesnar manages to break the clinch.
Lesnar will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Thomas Romine has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brock Lesnar.

Lesnar drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

The crowd cheers as Romine lands an impressive looking overhand right. Lesnar doesn't seem phased though.

Romine keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Lesnar shoots for a double leg takedown but Romine sprawls well. He's pushed Lesnar's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Lesnar is looking to clinch but Romine is avoiding it.
Thomas Romine seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Romine throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Lesnar.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Romine here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Romine shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Lesnar's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lesnar is looking to stand up but Romine isn't so interested in that idea.
Lesnar not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Romine wanted to stand there but Lesnar had control of the position.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Thomas Romine.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Romine, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
