The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nelson darts in and clinches Wang up against the cage.
Nelson lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Wang backwards.
Wang is fighting off a takedown attempt but Nelson is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Wang to the mat. Wang regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

James drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Koskinen gets the underhooks and prevents it.

James shoots for a double leg takedown but Koskinen sprawls well. He's pushed James's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Koskinen throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on James's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Koskinen dives in looking to finish as James flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Koskinen's strikes! Koskinen is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! James's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but James was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
