The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bruiser throws a head kick that misses.

Bruiser throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Bruiser keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Maia fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Bruiser to the ground. Maia is now in Bruiser's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Maia drops back looking for a leg! Bruiser is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bruiser manages to kick Maia off! Maia jumps back into Bruiser's guard.

Bruiser knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Maia on the ground.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Maia thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Maia stands up over Bruiser, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Maia postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Bruiser is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Maia, into his guard.
Maia is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Maia has his foot on Bruiser's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bruiser works his way back into a safe position though.

Maia is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Maia wants to sweep but no luck.

Maia escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bruiser gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Bruiser has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Bruiser is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Maia is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Maia is looking for a triangle but Bruiser pushes his legs off easily.
Maia looks gassed!

Maia has an active guard here but Bruiser has managed to pass into half guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Maia is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Maia is trying to control but can't.

Bruiser scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Maia doesn't seem bothered though.
A chopping leg kick lands by Bruiser.
Maia closes the distance and clinches up with Bruiser, looking for a takedown. Maia pushes Bruiser against the ropes but Bruiser circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Maia blocks a head kick by Bruiser.
Maia shoots for a takedown but Bruiser saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Bruiser lands a big head kick that sends Maia tumbling to the mat! Bruiser takes a step backwards and waves Maia back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bruiser lands a monster head kick that reverborates around the arena! The crowd goes wild as Maia crumples to the floor! Bruiser milks the crowd's applause and if that isn't knockout of the night, I will be very surprised!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Billy Bruiser!
