Mcgee's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Mcgee was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bosse lands a left and a right that send Duncan crashing to the mat, dazed. Bosse thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Duncan is rocked!

It looks like Tim Duncan has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bosse keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Oh Duncan is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Bosse connects with a stiff jab that staggers Duncan - oh and he follows up with a huge uppercut that knocks him out cold! Man, that was brutal!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sonnen takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Everlast fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Brian Sonnen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sonnen shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
letting Everlast counter with a right hand.
Sonnen fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Everlast avoids it really well and circles away.
Everlast swinging wildly here.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Everlast, right into the meat.
That kick from Everlast tenderised Sonnen's leg. Sonnen is trying to keep his angry face on.
Nice sprawl there from Everlast as Sonnen shoots in.
Erik Everlast has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brian Sonnen.
Everlast lands a jab to the nose.
Everlast paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sonnen fails with the takedown.
Everlast lands a lovely overhand right.
Everlast fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Danga de danga de dang - Everlast scores with a four punch combination!

Sonnen is rocked!
Everlast closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Sonnen! Everlast dives in looking to finish! Sonnen is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:12 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Erik Everlast!
A relieved looking Erik Everlast thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
