Silva comes to the cage accompanied by Human Sacrifice. Matias is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Killing In The Name. And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Leighton Matias!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Dean Styles and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matias closes the distance looking to clinch
and Silva counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Matias slips a jab from Silva.
Silva shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Matias pinned against the cage. Matias gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Matias is looking to clinch.
Matias tries to clinch but Silva moves out of range.

and Silva counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

and Silva counters with a shoot takedown. Matias fights it but they end up in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Silva controlling from the top position.
Matias looking to hit a scissor sweep but Silva is one step ahead there.
Matias preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Matias bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Silva's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Silva had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Matias defends it easily.

Matias in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Matias really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Silva. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Matias lands a couple of elbows.

Silva is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Matias frees his head nicely. Oh but Silva has switched to an armbar! Matias is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
