Hunter turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Gomaco off and cradles Hunter's limp body as Gomaco celebrates with his corner.

Tavares comes into the arena with Shakedown blaring out of the sound system. Daniels has chosen Copperhead Road as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ricky Tavares!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pete Daniels!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Daniels stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Daniels wants it to stay on the feet.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Daniels throws a combination. Tavares tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Daniels throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Daniels lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Tavares at a distance.
Daniels lands a nice looking body shot.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Tavares jabs at Daniels's body.
Tavares tries to bum rush Daniels with a series of wild strikes but Daniels uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Daniels misses with a hook. Tavares ducked under it nicely.
Tavares doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Daniels throws a good cross that connects.
Daniels lands a jab to the head.
Daniels throws a shot to the body.
Daniels buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Daniels fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Tavares looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Tavares is breathing heavily.
Daniels cracks the inside of Tavares's front leg.
Tavares looks to land a combination but Daniels avoids it well.
Tavares ducks right into an uppercut from Daniels.
No joy there for Tavares, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Daniels cracks Tavares with a good jab.
Nice cross by Daniels.
Daniels scores with a kick to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tavares takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Jab, jab by Daniels - just one landing.
Daniels cracks a nice hook into Tavares's ribs.
Tavares takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Daniels throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Tavares on the side of the head.
Tavares gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Daniels gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Tavares is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Pete Daniels!
Pete Daniels is the new middleweight champion!
As Pete Daniels got his breath back, he grabbed the microphone and managed to blurt out the following: Ricky was a worthy opponent. I'm glad he gave me the rematch and a chance to avenge my only loss. Somehow, I don't think we've seen the last of each other.'.
