Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Brooks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bernard Shamrock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brooks comes into the arena with (Matallica) Ride the lightning blaring out of the sound system. Bernard Shamrock told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brooks tries to clinch but Shamrock is having none of it. Shamrock avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Shamrock lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Brooks hang on? The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Frost throws an overhand right that lands on Reynolds's shoulder, as Reynolds tries to avoid the shot. Reynolds has a takedown stuffed. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Freddy Reynolds. That's going to take a lot out of him. Reynolds takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Reynolds looks to land a combination but Frost avoids it well. Reynolds tries to clinch up but Frost circles away and keeps his distance. Frost lands with a right hand. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Frost throws a big shot that misses. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bear fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Howard manages to avoid it. Howard buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Howard thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Bear if he has to take too many more of those.
A nice inside leg kick there by Howard. That's going to slow Bear down. Bear throws a series of punches but Howard avoids them all with ease. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! A nice leg kick lands there from Howard. No joy there for Bear, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Howard lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Bear looks gassed! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Howard misses with a looping left. Bear throws a series of punches but Howard avoids them all with ease. Bear ducks under a wild hook from Howard. Bear takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
It looks like PaPa Bear has been cut. Howard feints and then cracks Bear's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Bear down. Howard moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Howard throws a front kick that sends Bear stumbling back into the cage. Bear has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Howard. Howard dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Bear. That did some damage! Bear staying out of range there. Howard scores with a head kick. Bear tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. Bear takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
A good leg kick by Howard. Howard lands a big head kick that sends Bear tumbling to the mat! Howard takes a step backwards and waves Bear back to his feet - he wants the finish! Bear moves out of range of the strikes. Dwight Howard is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Howard, right into the meat.
Howard connects with a solid leg kick. Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Howard! Bear is out on his feet! Howard rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Bear is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Bear is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dwight Howard! After winning the bout, Dwight Howard thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.

Romine follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Romine cracks Daniels with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Romine scores with a hook. Romine rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Daniels moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Romine lands with a shot to the body. Daniels tries to clinch but Romine is having none of it. Romine moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
