Whitepride Velasquez told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velasquez tries to score with a low kick but Huerta moves his leg out of the way.
Huerta throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Huerta throws a sloppy head kick and Velasquez moves out of range easily.
Velasquez scores with a crisp jab that stopped Huerta in his tracks.
Huerta throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Huerta misses with a head kick.
The fighters circling - Velasquez throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Huerta tries to clinch up but Velasquez circles away and keeps his distance.

Velasquez shoots in and bounces Huerta off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Velasquez passes into half guard.
Velasquez tries to pass to full mount but Huerta defends it.
Huerta looks like he's trying to stand up.
Velasquez blocks the strikes from Huerta.
Huerta might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Huerta takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Huerta tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Velasquez wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

It looks like Max Huerta has been cut.

Velasquez has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Huerta has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Well, with Velasquez on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Huerta is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

Velasquez is looking for the choke from the back position but Huerta is controlling his hands well.

Velasquez has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Huerta! Can he survive? No! He's out! Velasquez gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Putin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lee swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Lee throws a shot to the body.
Putin throws a leg kick but Lee sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Lee throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Putin displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Lee throws out the jab.
Lee throws a series of punches but Putin moves out of range.
Putin tries to clinch but Lee is having none of it.
Lee swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Lee stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lee wants it to stay on the feet.
Lee swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Putin gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Putin prevents Lee from breaking the clinch.
Lee is pressed up against the cage. Putin has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Lee down to the mat. Lee avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Lee avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Lee feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Putins jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Putin takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Lee fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Putin has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Putin shoots for a double leg takedown but Lee sprawls well. He's pushed Putin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Lee is in all sorts of trouble here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Putin is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Lee can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Putin swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Lee is now in Putin's guard. A big mistake from Putin there, giving up the dominant position!

Lee drops back looking for a leg! Putin is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Putin manages to kick Lee off! Lee jumps back into Putin's guard.
Lee is pushing down on Putin's leg trying to pass to half guard. Putin is fighting to maintain full guard but Lee has managed to sneak the leg through.

Lee wants to work for an arm triangle but Putin is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Lee is working for a kimura but Putin is defending it quite comfortably.
Putin is looking for a sweep. Lee is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Lee wants to lay and pray for a moment but Putin keeps working.

Lee is trying to control the action in half guard but Putin is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
