The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McMurtry lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
McMurtry stuns Maia with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
McMurtry throws a head kick that Maia semi-blocks.
McMurtry throws a push kick but Maia slaps the foot to one side.

Maia dives in and scores a takedown into McMurtry's guard.

Maia drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Maia jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Maia is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Maia is looking to work some ground and pound but McMurtry has wrist control.

Maia escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McMurtry gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
McMurtry wants to control from the top but Maia keeps moving.

McMurtry wants to get up but he can't break Maia's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Maia bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in McMurtry's guard.

Maia slips nicely into half guard.
Maia is nestled in close to McMurtry, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
McMurtry really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Maia. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
McMurtry is trying to get back to full guard.

Maia is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. McMurtry doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Maia.
McMurtry is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Maia's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Maia's back!
I really don't envy Maia right now.
Maia manages to reverse the position and now he's in McMurtry's guard. Nice work there by Maia.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
McMurtry connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Maia's hands.

Maia fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with McMurtry, pushing him back against the cage.
McMurtry wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Maia jumps guard but McMurtry stands there with Maia around his waist. Maia gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
McMurtry is pressed up against the cage. Maia has hold of a leg and is looking to drag McMurtry down to the mat. McMurtry avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Quagmire tries to keep at a distance but Dirk has taken the fight into the clinch.

Dirk looks to land a combination but Quagmire avoids it well.

Quagmire feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Dirk sprawling to the canvas! Dirk rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Quagmire finish him?!

Dirk is rocked!
Quagmire lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Dirk up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Quagmire from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Dirk's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.

Rock fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Paalio has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Paalio is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Rock connects with a jab.

Aalio Paalio's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Rock fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Paalio looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Rock lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Rock scores with a jab to the head.

Jeez, Aalio Paalio's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
Rock feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Paalios jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Rock scores with a kick to the midsection.
Rock connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Paalio tumbling to the canvas! Rock pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Paalio was done - good stoppage!

Lombard has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Yag can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Kyril shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Rattallan eats them both and turns towards Kyril to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

It looks like Kallo Rattallan has been cut.
Rattallan shoots in but Kyril avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Rattallan misses the shot to the body.

Kyril closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Kyril tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Rattallan avoids it.

Viktor Kyril has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kallo Rattallan.
Rattallan bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Kyril walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Rattallan checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Rattallan lunges at Kyril with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Kyril's hand.
Rattallan shoots for a takedown but Kyril saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
