The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fighter shoots in but no luck this time. Payet attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Payet has Fighter up against the cage in a clinch.
Payet lands a body shot. Payet pushes Fighter back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Fighter is breathing heavily. Payet stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Royale throwing strikes but missing. Silva on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Silva tries to get out of the position. Royale trying to control the position from guard on top but Silva is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Royale has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Royale would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Silva utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Royale postures up in Silva's guard and throws a big left but Silva blocks it. Silva working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Royale.

Royale misses with a takedown attempt - Silva sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Royale looks gassed! A telegraphed takedown attempt from Royale is defended easily by Silva. Silva looks to land a combination. Royale sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Silva misses with the combination.

Sloppy strikes from Silva. Those never looked like landing. Silva slaps away a takedown attempt from Royale, before circling back to the center of the mat. No luck with that takedown attempt from Royale. Some wild striking there from Silva.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A big right from Coton misses. Velazquez tries for a takedown but Coton sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Coton connects with a body shot that sends Velazquez's belly button to the back. Velazquez on the wrong end of a nice hook. Coton moves into range and connects with a jab. Coton chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Coton scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
It looks like Dante Velazquez has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Coton swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Coton works the jab nicely. Coton feints a jab promting Velazquez to slip. Coton then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Velazquez slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. A punch lands to the side of Velazquez 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Velazquez is rocked! Coton lands a jab and follows it up with a massive straight that knocks Velazquez out cold! Velazquez is crumpled in the corner, his head only propped up by the cage! That's one for the organiziational promos right there! Wow, what a finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Jamie Coton! Jamie Coton retains his heavyweight title! After winning the bout, Jamie Coton thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
