Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fedor Obsut!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Trevor Gratis and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Obsut avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
ONeil lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
ONeil keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Obsut scores with a takedown into ONeil's guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Obsut throwing strikes but missing.

Obsut is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! ONeil is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! ONeil has escaped and now he's on top!
ONeil wants to pass the guard but Obsut is keeping the position.

Obsut looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
ONeil wants to control from the top but Obsut keeps moving.
Obsut has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Obsut is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

ONeil pushes down on Obsut's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Obsut is pressing down on ONeil's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
ONeil stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Obsut swivels though and keeps the full guard.
ONeil throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Obsut is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The fighters are battling for position here. ONeil manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
ONeil pulls Obsut in close to his closed guard and prevents Obsut from doing any damage or advancing position.

ONeil controls Obsut momentarily but Obsut frees himself.
ONeil keeping moving, preventing Obsut from controlling successfully.
Obsut with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
ONeil manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Obsut manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Obsut has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but ONeil can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Obsut is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Obsut looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
ONeil controlling from the top position.

ONeil's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

ONeil decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Obsut, up you get!
Obsut tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but ONeil was well out of range. Poor timing from Obsut.
A punch lands to the side of Obsut 's head but he takes it in his stride.
ONeil takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Obsut punishes ONeil's body with a nice straight punch.
ONeil throws the kick towards the body but Obsut avoids it.
Obsut throws the left hand but ONeil avoids the punch easily.
ONeil throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
ONeil misses with a series of wild punches.
ONeil jabs Obsut right on the nose. Obsut blinks but takes it well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
ONeil slips under a jab from Obsut.
Fedor Obsut seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Obsut crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from ONeil - the referee stops the clock and Obsut gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says ONeil. Obsut manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from ONeil.
Obsut displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as ONeil throws out the jab.
Obsut looks for a takedown but ONeil sprawls well.
Obsut scores with a three punch combo!
Obsut tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but ONeil swivels and escapes.
ONeil bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Obsut's head backwards.
ONeil scores with a jab.
Mickey ONeil is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
ONeil lands a jab to Obsut's midsection.
ONeil misses with a head kick.
ONeil lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Obsut at a distance.
Obsut looks gassed!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Obsut just misses with a punch to the body.
ONeil staying out of range there.
Obsut fails with a takedown attempt.
Mickey ONeil has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fedor Obsut.
Obsut misses with a looping left.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mickey ONeil dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

ONeil staying out of range there.
ONeil works the jab nicely.
Obsut ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
ONeil just misses with a punch to the body.
Mickey ONeil is winning the standup battle so far.
ONeil looks to land a body kick but Obsut moved away.
ONeil ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
A thudding body kick lands there by ONeil!
Obsut looks to land a left hand but ONeil moved out of range nicely.
ONeil closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Obsut will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
ONeil uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Obsut gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Obsut is rocked!
ONeil throws a powerful right kick. Obsut tried to block low but the kick was high! Obsut was taken right off of his feet! ONeil jumps in to finish the job and the ref tackles him! The fight is over!
