8 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tony Thompson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kamikaze Kid! The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A telegraphed takedown attempt from Thompson is defended easily by Kid. Thompson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kid tries to avoid it but Thompson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kid to the ground. Kid escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Kid decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Kid is working for a submission of some sort.
Thompson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kid is working away from the top position though. Kid is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Thompson has managed to free his arm - good work. Kid is looking for a kimura but Thompson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kid to get the leverage. Kid is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kid is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Kid is working for a submission of some sort.
Kid is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Thompson defends it well. Thompson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kid pulls his head out easily.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Kid seems to be working for a kimura but Thompson defends the submission attempt. Kid is working for a kimura here but Thompson manages to reverse the position and he's now in Kid's guard.

Thompson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Thompson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Thompson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kid has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Thompson has managed to get both his arms back between Kid's legs - danger averted. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Thompson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Thompson trying to control but Kid is working from the bottom. Kid has his foot on Thompson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Thompson works his way back into a safe position though.

Thompson wants to control from the top but Kid keeps moving. Thompson is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Kid is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Thompson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Thompson missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Kid is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Thompson stands up over Kid, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Thompson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Kid utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Thompson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Kid working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Thompson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Thompson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Kid is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Thompson defends well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Kamikaze Kid will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Kid drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Thompson dives on top into guard. Thompson drops back looking for a leg! Kid is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kid manages to kick Thompson off! Thompson jumps back into Kid's guard. Kid looking for a guillotine here but Thompson defends easily.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kid can do anything to dispel that myth.

He's pushed Kid's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Thompson feints and as Kid raises his hands in defense, Thompson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Thompson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Thompson drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Thompson seems to have locked his on tight now - Kid screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Thompson, as he picks up the win!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Juliard moves out of range as Sakuragi throws a body kick.
Sakuragi throws a leg kick and Juliard counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Sakuragi thinking. Nice shot lands for Juliard. Juliard closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Sakuragi's guard. Sakuragi working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Juliard. Sakuragi keeping moving, preventing Juliard from controlling successfully. Sakuragi wants to sweep here but Juliard controlling him for the moment. Sakuragi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Juliard on the ground. Sakuragi has his hands on Juliard's head, controlling the position. Juliard advances position into side control! Sakuragi can't do much from the bottom here. The strikes coming from Juliard are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Sakuragi keeping his opponent close. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. This has been an exciting period of action! Santos keeps the fight on the outside. Sloppy strikes from King. Those never looked like landing. King shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Santos as he avoids it easily. Gancho Santos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ador King. Santos darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. King wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Santos decides to return to a standing position. King closes the distance and clinches up with Santos, looking for a takedown. King pushes Santos against the cage but Santos circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Excellent takedown into side control there by Santos. Santos tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Santos landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Santos working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Santos working away. That's going to take a lot out of Ador King. King is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Santos jumps guard but King turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Santos prevents the takedown attempt.

Santos looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Gancho Santos overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Santos managing to control the position. Santos lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for King!

Santos lands with some vicious ground and pound - can King hang on? King tries to lock up and control but Santos gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Santos takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

He has one arm under the chin but King has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. King is trying to get back to his feet but Santos has full control of the position and if anything, King has just worked his way into a worse spot. A momentary lapse in concentration from King enables Santos to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. King manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Santos controls from within his opponent's guard. Santos pushes down on King's leg and manages to get into half guard. King tries to roll over but Santos keeps him under control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Santos looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks King with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Santos stands up and beckons King to join him on the feet. A telegraphed takedown attempt from King is defended easily by Santos. Santos gets in close and instigates a clinch. King stalling the fight.

Santos tries to free his leg and advance position but King is retaining full guard. Santos gets to his feet - King follows without any prompting. King looking to score a takedown here. Santos is defending well but King drives through and ends up in Santos's guard. Santos tries to land a sweep but no joy. Santos seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. King wants to control from the top but Santos keeps moving.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Santos shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. King defends it nicely. King will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Santos tries a head kick but it misses.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! No luck for Santos with that takedown attempt. Ador King has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Gancho Santos is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. King misses with a straight left.
And that's the end of the fight! Gancho Santos showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Santos, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Mastadon closes this distance looking for a takedown but Riggins circles away. No luck with that takedown attempt from Mastadon. Rob Riggins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Donald Mastadon. Riggins tries to clinch but Mastadon is having none of it. Mastadon tries for a takedown but Riggins sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. The fight stays on the outside here - Riggins looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Riggins tries to clinch there but Mastadon circles away.

Landis clinches up with Cragen and pushes him back against the cage. Landis tries to break free but Cragen pushes him back against the cage. Lumens misses with a takedown attempt - Chapman sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Chapman thows a left - swing and a miss! Chapman throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Lumens uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Chapman. Chapman stuffs the takedown. Lumens keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Chapman. Lumens ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Lumens staying out of range there. Chapman smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
It looks like Franco Lumens has been cut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Chapman goes for a small jab and connects. Now Chapman goes in closer pressing the issue. Left hook, right straight! Lumens stumbles back but Chapman runs in with a huge uppercut knocking Lumens to the ground! What a finish! You have to wonder if Lumens will ever be the same after a knockout like that.
