The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Heikki misses with a wild body shot. Matiss misses with a head kick.
Matiss attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Heikki throws out a loose jab but Matiss uses good head movement to avoid it. A big left from Heikki misses. Matiss throws a push kick but Heikki slaps the foot to one side. Matiss fails with an attempt to clinch.
Heikki wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Matiss has Heikki up against the cage in a clinch.

Heikki turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Heikki manages to end up in side control. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Sloppy strikes there by Heikki. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Heikki trying to control the position but Matiss is working away. Heikki misses with the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Matiss wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Heikki throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Heikki cracks Matiss with a big right hand but Matiss just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
A lull in the action here as Heikki stalls from top position. Matiss is working to avoid the ground and pound but Heikki connects with a decent elbow. Matiss tries to improve position but can't. Heikki is trying to get an arm triangle but Matiss is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Matiss takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Heikki works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Matiss can't do much from the bottom here. Heikki in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Heikki has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Heikki throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Matiss works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure. Matiss has hold of Heikki's hands but Heikki slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Howard avoids a punch combination nicely.
Howard looks to land a combination but Wi avoids it well. Howard shoots and misses and Wi counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Wi preventing the sweep. Wi sitting in guard here, content to control. Wi gets to his feet. Howard looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Howard gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Wi counters with a nice double leg into guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Wi throws a big elbow that misses. Wi scoring with punches to the head and body. Wi has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Wi throwing strikes but missing. Howard has his foot on Wi's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Wi works his way back into a safe position though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wi pushing down on Howard's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Wi controlling the pace. Howard looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Howard blocking the ground and pound attempt from Wi. Wi tries to stand and escape but Howard is controlling the position. Howard has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Wi is working away from the top position though. Wi postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Howard to stand up.

Jacob Howard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Howard moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Howard gets tackled into the cage by Wi. Wi maintains the clinch. Wi is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Wi jumps guard and drags Howard to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Howard drops back looking for a leg! Wi is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Wi manages to kick Howard off! Howard jumps back into Wi's guard. Wi pushes Howard off and gets back to his feet.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Wi drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Wi drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Howard dives on top into guard. Wi can't keep his opponent in guard - Howard advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Wi tries to roll over but Howard keeps him under control. Howard is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wi moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Wi is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Howard is controlling him. Wi wants to control but Howard passes easily into half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Wi looking for submissions from an awkward position here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wi postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Howard in real trouble here! The ref calls for Howard to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wonder gets in close and instigates a clinch. Wonder wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Hadji has him pressed against the cage. Hadji breaks from the clinch.
Hadji waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Wonder. Wonder's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Hadji connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Wonder scrambles back to his feet. A combination from Hadji does no damage. Wonder blocks the body kick.

Gracie tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Haukka manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Haukka throws a right and a left that both miss. Sloppy strikes from Haukka. Those never looked like landing. Haukka really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hunter walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Parantainen is looking to clinch. Hunter uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Parantainen. Hunter tries to clinch up but Parantainen circles away and keeps his distance. Parantainen changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hunter looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Hunter tries to buck Parantainen off but Parantainen is having none of it. Parantainen creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Hunter sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Hunter defending against the ground and pound.
