The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Paiskbah prevents TriX from improving his position.

Hayes dips to his left and cracks Renato with an uppercut!
Renato takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Hayes throws a leg kick which misses Renato's front leg but catches the back leg as Renato tries to avoid it.

Renato doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Renato gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Hayes.
Khalid Hayes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Renato shoots in looking for a takedown but Hayes manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Renato's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Renato throws a body punch but Hayes moves out of range.

Hayes drops Renato with a beautiful combination! Renato stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Hayes is looking for the KO!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Renato is defended easily by Hayes.
Khalid Hayes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Clyde Renato.
Renato gets caught by a brutal right hook which buckles his knees! Renato tries to backpedal with his spaghettilegs but Hayes is headhunting and goes for the kill. A jab and a right hook connect and Renato buckles badly as his eyes roll back. The referee steps in and saves Renato!! Renato is complaining but he was clearly out on his feet. Hayes throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Mmmm spit-tastic.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Khalid Hayes!

After winning the bout, Khalid Hayes thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
