Undercard bout

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between KC Cooper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randy Koture (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cooper kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Renegade by Jay-Z & Eminem. Both these guys are coming into the fight with injuries so let's see if that has a bearing on the fight. Randy Koture told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, KC Cooper! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Randy Koture! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shigeki Sano and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Koture misses with a left hand and Cooper counters with a lovely shot to the body. Koture looks gassed! Cooper scores with a hook to the body. Koture takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Cooper feints a jab promting Koture to slip. Cooper then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Koture slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Cooper shoots in for a takedown but Koture shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Cooper lands with a nice combination. Koture backs away looking to recover.
That has opened up Randy Koture's cut even more. Cooper with a body punch. A glancing blow. Cooper misses with a double jab.
Cooper lands a body shot.
Koture throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Cooper counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Cooper connects with a right hand. Koture shakes it off. Cooper works the jab nicely. Cooper throws a nice looking combination but Koture bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Cooper fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cooper lands a jab to the head.
The cut above Randy Koture's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Koture gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Cooper works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Koture is rocked! Cooper shoots in but Koture avoids the takedown attempt easily. Koture is still on wobbly legs! Can Cooper finish him? That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for KC Cooper. That's going to take a lot out of him. Cooper connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Koture's hands. Cooper shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Koture as he avoids it easily. Cooper scores with a punch to the head. Randy Koture seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cooper scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. BOOM! Cooper lands a beautiful left hook that drops Koture. Koture tries to recover but Cooper is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Koture lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). KC Cooper! Our winner, KC Cooper, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mac will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Bot decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Bot is breathing heavily. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Mac is trying to stand back up but Bot is controlling him
Mac blocking the ground and pound attempt from Bot. Mac is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Bot escapes and gets back to his feet. Mac misses with a takedown and Bot counters with a nice double leg into guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Bot sitting in guard here, content to control. Bot passes Mac's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mac blocking the ground and pound attempt from Bot. Bot escapes and gets back to his feet. Bot shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Bot was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Mac is desperately trying to improve his position but Bot has a good base and remains in mount. Bot with shots to the head and body - Mac looks very uncomfortable down there. Bot tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bot throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Mac wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Bot.
Bot prevents Mac from getting the reversal. Bot controlling from the full mount. This has been an exciting period of action! Mac tries to hold on but Bot pushes him away. Mac is trying desperately to improve position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mac holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Bot tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Bot throwing strikes here but Mac is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Mac blocking the ground and pound. Bot misses with a head shot. Bot takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Mac looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bot is working the ground and pound. Can Mac escape? Mac has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Bot. Bot throwing wild punches that miss their target. Good control from Bot. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Bot seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Mac for as long as he can get away with. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Auto Bot dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Bot closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mac's guard. Bot postures up.

Bot is stalling in the full guard. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Mac shoots in but no luck this time. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bot scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Bot is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mac defends it well. Bot looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Bot missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Mac manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mac is trying to keep Bot in close.
Bot throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Mac working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Bot. Bot with a flurry of punches that miss. Bot passes into half guard. Bot passes the guard and advances to mount! Bot has hold of Mac's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Mac manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mac avoids a series of strikes thrown by Bot.
Bot takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Bot thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Bot blocks Mac's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. Mac can't escape the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bot lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Bot controlling from the full mount. Bot's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Auto Bot dominated that second round. That's time! Bot's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
The fight stays on the outside here - Mac looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Mac takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Bot looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Bot controlling the pace. Mac is trying to stand.
Bot content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mac moves into full guard.
Mac is looking for a triangle here but Bot uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Bot landing strikes. Bot fails to land a wild elbow strike.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bot working the ground and pound but Mac is defending the strikes. Bot working the ground and pound but Mac is defending the strikes. Mac is trying to get back to half guard. Mac is trying to escape the position but Bot is controlling the position. Auto Bot overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Auto Bot has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Bot drives through with a takedown into guard. Bot might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Bot sitting in guard here, content to control. Mac controls Bot momentarily but Bot frees himself.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
We're going to have a standup here because Auto Bot wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Mac gets caught napping as Bot dives in and scores a takedown. Mac manages to retain guard. Mac doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Mac is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Bot gets full guard. Eric Mac has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Auto Bot is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Bot seems keen to control Mac's posture.
And that's the end of the fight! Auto Bot showed his dominance in that final round. Well Bot has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Good standup being displayed there by Hall as he connects with a hook.
It looks like Maxwell Hickman has been cut. Hickman throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Hall connects with a good right hand that stumbles Hickman. Hickman circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Horrible takedown by Hickman or perhaps it was just good defense by Hall which made him look bad. Hickman doesn't manage to clinch there - Hall circles away.
Hickman wants to clinch up but Hall keeps it at a distance. Hall moves into range and clinches up with Hickman. Come on Hall - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hall lands a hook that snaps the head of Hickman backwards. Hickman takes a shot to the head. Hickman is trying to force a seperation but Hall has the dominant position. Hall avoiding damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hickman looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Hall scores with an uppercut up the middle. Hall working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Hickman is rocked! Hall unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Hickman! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Hall is unloading with more strikes now! Hickman drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!

McSweeney fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Sword. Sword misses with an uppercut. McSweeney saw that one coming. Sword throws a right hand that misses
and McSweeney makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. McSweeney wants to clinch up but Sword keeps it at a distance. Sword shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as McSweeney sprawls well. McSweeney wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Sword gets slowly back to his feet. McSweeney tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Sword paws at him with a jab and circles away. A chopping leg kick lands by McSweeney. Sword drives through with a takedown into guard. Sword postures up in McSweeney's guard and throws a big left but McSweeney blocks it. Sword scores with a decent looking elbow strike. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Sword passes McSweeney's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Sword slips a nice elbow through McSweeney's hands, connecting with McSweeney's forehead. Sword sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. McSweeney defending well though. McSweeney is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Sword scores with a couple of nice shots.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sword seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Sword seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Sword working McSweeney over with strikes. Sword takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Sword lands with a punch from half guard. McSweeney could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Sword looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks McSweeney with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Sword working over McSweeney with some ground and pound. McSweeney looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. McSweeney is looking to improve his position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Sword thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed McSweeney's head. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Sword in particular looking to stall. McSweeney avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Sword. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Sword connects with a nice short shot to McSweeney's temple. Sword is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. McSweeney taking some punishment here, with Sword in his half guard. Sword is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for McSweeney! Sword with shots to the head and body - McSweeney looks very uncomfortable down there. Oooooh, big shot lands for Sword! McSweeney is hurt baaadly! Sword is firing away with more strikes - McSweeney is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Paul tries to get out of the position. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Paul holds on and takes a little breather. Paul throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Hoivunen pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Paul is keeping the position for now. Paul is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Paul stands and throws Hoivunen's legs to the side, diving into side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Justin Paul dominated that round. The cut man is working on Mykka Hoivunen's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Paul tries to close the distance and clinch but Hoivunen swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Paul throws a series of strikes that have Hoivunen backpedaling.

It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hoivunen wants it to stay on the feet. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hoivunen tries to get to full guard but Paul has control of the leg. Hoivunen looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Paul is figuring out what he wants to do next. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ramirez misses with a takedown and Poppy counters with a thumping low kick. Ramirez takes a swing at Poppy's ribcage but misses. Poppy takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Ramirez looks gassed! Ramirez throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Ramirez misses with a double jab.
Poppy does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Poppy attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Poppy throws a quick inside leg kick. Poppy fails to land the takedown. Poppy throws out a loose jab but Ramirez uses good head movement to avoid it. Poppy misses with a low kick.
Ramirez leaves Poppy with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Ramirez shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ramirez showed some decent athleticism there. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Poppy is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ramirez's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ramirez's back!
