The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith drives through with a takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lafleur is pulling down on Smith's head to control his posture.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jake Smith wasn't active enough on the ground.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Lafleur. Smith shrugs it off though.

Smith shoots in for a double leg but Lafleur sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Smith lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Lafleur drops Smith with a beautiful combination! Smith stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Lafleur is looking for the KO!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A head kick by Lafleur - that's a beauty! Smith is out but he's somehow still standing... he's going... going... gone. Like a drunk walking down the middle of the road, the inevitable face plant follows and the delayed knockout arrives. Even Lafleur can't help but laugh at the bizarre end to this one!
