Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hanamichi Sakuragi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gancho Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Gancho Santos was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santos closes this distance looking for a takedown but Sakuragi circles away. Sakuragi tries a low kick but Santos avoids it. Sakuragi defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Santos. A lazy body kick from Sakuragi and Santos counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Sakuragi throws a sloppy head kick and Santos moves out of range easily. Santos avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Santos avoids the head kick by Sakuragi.
Sakuragi misses with a wild combination.

Santos is looking to clinch. Santos lands a nice hook to Sakuragi's body. Sakuragi takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Hanamichi Sakuragi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sakuragi leaves Santos with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Sakuragi throws a leg kick that is checked and Santos counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Sakuragi blocking the ground and pound attempt from Santos. Santos tries to stand but his arm is trapped. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Sakuragi throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Sakuragi looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Sakuragi distracts Santos with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Hanamichi Sakuragi is winning the standup battle so far. Santos tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sakuragi sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Santos somewhat. Santos takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Sakuragi throws a nice looking combination but Santos bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Santos closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Santos lands some shots froms side control. Santos looks up at the clock and then as Sakuragi takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Santos smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
A lull in the action here as Santos stalls from top position. Santos has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Let's hope that Santos has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Santos is looking to take a break and control but Sakuragi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Gancho Santos was stalling too much, according to the referee. Santos connects with a high kick. Santos shoots in for a takedown but Sakuragi shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Santos avoids the body shot from Sakuragi.

McNamara is trying to get back to his feet. Rodriquez goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, McNamara has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Rodriquez but great work by McNamara. McNamara tries to move to mount but Rodriquez blocks the move with his legs. You can see the frustration on Rodriquez's face as McNamara controls the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. McNamara slows the pace down in half guard. Evil seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Doobney for as long as he can get away with. Doobney struggling a bit here.

Michael Stubb seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Stubb drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Stubb is working to tighten is grip on Shields's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Shields has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Stubb is really squeezing tight and eventually Shields passes out! Stubb breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jamess tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Kosh attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. A right-left combo lands from Jamess.
It looks like Clayton Kosh has been cut. Some wild striking there from Jamess.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kosh is defended easily by Jamess. Jamess lands the left hand. Kosh is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Jamess. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! A good leg kick by Jamess. Jamess keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Jamess scores with a crisp jab that stopped Kosh in his tracks.
Clayton Kosh's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. Jamess fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Clayton Kosh is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Jamess lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Jamess. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. A shot to the liver by Jamess. Beautiful body shot. Jamess stalks Kosh and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Kosh's face. Kosh staggers backwards, shaken.

Jeez, Clayton Kosh's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked. LeBron Jamess seems to be getting the better of the standup. Jamess connects with a body shot that sends Kosh's belly button to the back. Jamess misses with a few strikes there.

Kosh shoots in for a double leg but Jamess sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. A punch lands to the side of Kosh 's head but he takes it in his stride. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Kosh closes the distance and clinches up with Jamess, looking for a takedown. Kosh pushes Jamess against the cage but Jamess circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Kosh misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
