Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Pekka Puukko! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ilya Porunov! The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Vladimir Khabensky and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Puukko throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Puukko scoring well with a low kick there.
Porunov chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Puukko can pounce on him.
Porunov fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Pekka Puukko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Puukko looks to score with a jab to the body but Porunov is just out of range. Puukko feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Porunov's calf. Porunov doesn't succeed with the takedown and Puukko counters with a one-two to the body. Puukko scores with a leg kick.
Porunov decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Puukko wants to control the action here but instead Porunov manages to pass to full mount! Porunov looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Porunov has hold of Puukko's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Puukko manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
That's one minute gone in the round. Puukko swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Puukko is working to get back to half guard.
Porunov is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Porunov!

3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Wolf Mastadon! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Vladimir Khabensky and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mastadon feints and as Me raises his hands in defense, Mastadon changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Mastadon stops Me from standing up. Mastadon got a little sloppy there for a moment and Me has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mastadon has managed to get both his arms back between Me's legs - danger averted. Me has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Mastadon is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Me. Mastadon controlling the position from side mount. Mastadon working away. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Me is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Mastadon moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Me is looking to regain half guard here but Mastadon keeps moving and retains side control. Me is working hard here to advance position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Me is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Mastadon is controlling him well. Me is being controlled here. Me is trying to control Mastadon's posture but Mastadon avoids it. Me tries to bench press Mastadon off him but Mastadon keeps the position. Mastadon controlling the position from side mount. Me regains half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mastadon passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Me! Me is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Me tries to get back to half guard but can't. Mastadon scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Mastadon prevents Me from getting the reversal. Me tries to lock up and control but Mastadon gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Me really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mastadon looking to finish Me with some ground and pound. This is bad for Me! Mastadon controlling the position easily from mount. Me can't escape the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Me wants to hold on but Mastadon pushes him away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Wolf Mastadon will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Horrible takedown by Me or perhaps it was just good defense by Mastadon which made him look bad. Mastadon throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Me's waist but Me gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mastadon off to one side. Excellent takedown into side control there by Mastadon. Mastadon is staying tight to Me's torso, preventing him from escaping. Mastadon's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Mastadon working away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Me tries to bench press Mastadon off him but Mastadon keeps the position. Me gets back to half guard. Me looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Me trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Wolf Mastadon has got the better of the ground game so far. Me wants to control but Mastadon is having none of it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mastadon has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Me's face.
Me sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Me trying to control but Mastadon postures up.
Mastadon works his way into full mount! Me is desperately trying to improve his position but Mastadon has a good base and remains in mount. Mastadon landing punches.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mastadon with good strikes from the mount here! Mastadon lands a big elbow. Me is trying desperately to improve position. Me tries to hold on but Mastadon postures up. Mastadon lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mastadon takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Me really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Me wants to control but Mastadon is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Wolf Mastadon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Mastadon drives through with a takedown into guard. Me can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Mastadon controls the pace. Me is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mastadon is aware though and is defending well. Me working for a triangle but Mastadon defends it easily.

Mastadon doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mastadon manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Mastadon changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Me looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Mastadon staying calm. Me tries to buck Mastadon off but Mastadon is having none of it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mastadon has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Me! You get the feeling that Me really doesn't like being in this position too much.

And that's the end of the fight! Wolf Mastadon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Mastadon has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ferguson takes a swing at Garza's ribcage but misses. Ferguson fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Garza looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Garza has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Garza there as he acknowledges the shot. Ferguson throws a predictable looking body shot
and Garza counters with a straight right hand. Ferguson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Garza moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Garza cracks Ferguson with a good jab. Garza takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Ferguson thows a left - swing and a miss! Ferguson throws a right hand that Garza ducks under and follows up with a left that Garza also avoids with ease. Garza throws a sloppy head kick and Ferguson moves out of range easily. Garza takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Ferguson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Garza moves away. Ferguson misses the shot to the body. Garza really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Ferguson misses with a body shot.

That's one minute gone in the round. Garza feints and then cracks Ferguson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Ferguson down. Ferguson takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Ferguson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Garza circles away quickly and effectively. Ferguson throws a big shot that misses. Ferguson avoids a punch combination nicely.
Garza is looking to clinch but Ferguson is avoiding it.
Ferguson closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Garza's guard. Garza has his foot on Ferguson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ferguson works his way back into a safe position though. Garza working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Ferguson. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sai lands an elbow just above Warburton 's eye. Warburton has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Sai after a bit of a struggle. Warburton has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Sai avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Warburton has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Sai is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Curt Warburton.
