And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jamie Gaines!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Tarja Halkonen and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Gaines is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
A telegraphed right hand from Jones misses the target.

Jones closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Gaines to the mat! Gaines manages to get full guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Gaines working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jones doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jones manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Gaines is looking for a triangle but Jones pushes his legs off easily.
Jones seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Jones wants to stand but Gaines is controlling his posture from full guard.

Gaines escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jones gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Jones's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Jones might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Jones slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Jones stands and steps away. Gaines gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Gaines is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Jones is aware though and is defending well.

Gaines has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Jones escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Jones!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gaines is working an open guard so Jones takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Jones's jab looks to have found its range, popping Gaines under the eye.

Jones closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Jones works to advance to full mount. Gaines defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Jones postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Gaines looks a forlorn figure.

Jones seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Gaines for as long as he can get away with.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Jones has control of Gaines's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Gaines regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Simpson connects with a good right hand that stumbles Petrovich. Petrovich circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Petrovich gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Simpson gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!
