Odoors turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Odoors manages to end up in side control.
Chomsky is trying to improve his position.
Odoors is looking to take a break and control but Chomsky is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Odoors wants to stand but Chomsky has his arm trapped.
Chomsky is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Odoors's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
The fighters are battling for position here. Chomsky manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Chomsky working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Odoors doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Odoors manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bruce tries to bum rush Simpson with a series of wild strikes but Simpson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Edward Simpson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Simpson walks into a stiff left hand from Bruce.

Bruce throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Bruce rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Simpson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Bruce fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bruce is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Simpson pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Bruce has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Simpson after a bit of a struggle.

Simpson fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Bruce has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Simpson throws a hook to the side of Bruce's head but Bruce sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Simpson clinches up with Bruce and pushes him back against the cage.
Bruce drops down looking for an ankle pick but Simpson pulls his leg out and moves away.

Bruce manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Simpson on his heels. He'll look to pass Simpson's guard now, I'm sure.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Bruce stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Simpson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Simpson can do anything to dispel that myth.

Bruce throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Simpson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Simpson wants to get back to his feet but Bruce is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Simpson avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Bruce gets to his feet and stands over Simpson, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Simpson felt that one! Bruce unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Simpson from any more punishment!
